WiFi dropping in bedroom.

Hi Guys

Still having a few issues with dropping of internet upstairs intermittently. Spoke to EE today and they have arranged an engineer to attend.

I have been looking at possible options of WiFi enhancer with EE but unsure of this will help and what it actually does. Also thinking about EE WiFi booster although i don't really want to pay £240 over the 24 months for the privilege of this.

So when it drops out I re set the router and everything fires back up as normal then might go ok for a few days then drop again anyone had this problem ?

Can anyone recommend any WiFi boosters that you've used through a third party and if it solved your issue

@Welshy89 It can be as easy as press wps button on router, press wps button on extender, and let them do there thing.

Tp-Link sometimes puts the _EXT name after the EE name, can download the tp-link app and change the name to match for seamless roaming. Will link the Tp-Link guide so you can read. Was a OP post you can ask how they got on will link also for you. At the end of post, see how they got on with it.

Thanks for your message.

Are you able to advise what WiFi extender is compatible with EE and will worth with my set up I have the latest EE router and currently on fftp at a speed of 500mbps.

There are some cheap versions but don't want to waste money and get the best option out there to pay it just once

If you have the EE Smart Hub Plus (SH+), model no. SH31B, of Set up your Home Broadband EE Router, you need the EE Smart WiFi Plus , model no. SW30A, of Setting up Smart WiFi, to go with it.

No one as yet as been able to purchase as far as posted the EE Smart Wi-Fi outright, you would need to see if you can or do you have to pay the £10 month to get one/three from them. Let the forum know what the outcome is. I Currently use the Asus RP-AX58 connected to the EE Smarthub+ router, does need some setup adjustment similar to the Tp-Link from earlier, have a look on the asus web site.

2. Would the third party WiFi extenders be compatible with the EE Smart Hub Plus Router. Yes but some can be harder to setup just depends on what you wish to do.

3. Can any one recommend the best third party WiFi extender that will be compatible with the EE smart hub router and will deliver fast speeds I want upstairs currently on a package if 500mbps fftp but WiFi drops out in bedroom when watching TV and gaming The EE Smart WiFi Plus , model no. SW30A is designed for the router if you can purchase outright, there is absolutely no guarantee with any wireless device as to getting full speed, If you wish that then look to connect your upstairs by Ethernet Cable from the EE router to your room, and that your devices are capable of Ethernet connection.

@JimM11 I have ordered this above the AX3000 range extender but having major issues connecting it. I got the one light that's stable for power but it will not connect via wps or ethernet the two modes 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz are both active in the router.

It also will not allow me to tether either. How did you manage to overcome this issue. Other wise I will he sending it back. Multiple restarts of the router etc have been completed. It appears when you press the wps on the smart hub it flashes blue but then as soon as you press the wps on the tp link the hub lights go back to aqua.

Any advice from anyone greatly welcomed

@Welshy89 Place the devices close together, press the wps button on the TP-Link, get it flashing blue, when it is, then press the wps on the EE Router, and let them pair. There is a copy of the link to the TP-Link manual earlier in the post.

@Welshy89 I have replied to the post of @Maxi1441 to see which method was used for connection of the Tp-Link RE700X as to whether it was WPS or App downloaded to set it up, and if you can try the suggestion earlier with regards to doing the TP-Link first, this will indicate that the unit's wps function is working with it's flashing blue light.

Hi. I connected using the app and it was easy except it added -ext on the end of the hub name deleted that and it connected weak devices straight away. No issues since

Ok I have now tried the app and wps and still no luck WiFi light flash blue along with router for the two.mins next to each other and will not connect.

App option is saying unable to connect to next work it brings a diagram up showing network router with a small red x on it then a line to the extender with another line in it.

All options tried with out success 🤔

Can anyone recommend another WiFi extender as I plan to send this one back

@Welshy89 Just incase the TP link has now got confused have you tried resetting it before trying to pair it to the EE router.

Done a reset on both tp link and router no luck at all via wps or tether.

@Welshy89 ? When you pin reset the TP-Link extender although it says 1 second in the manual, does the power light go out in the reset function to indicate that it is doing it. Copy of a video link if you wish to view that.

Hello

I have watched the video when I reset the tp link all the lights come on WiFi goes red then all lights go off power light then starts blinking.

I have looked at the video also when I put the password in on the tether option and click and it says no connection available.

I starting to think the tp link may be faulty or the software not updated.

Can you recommend any other WiFi extenders that will work with EE Smart Hub +

Just a quick look on Amazon and there's Wavlink AX3000 speeds of 1800 mbs what's your thoughts on this

What speed WiFi extender do I need I'm guessing 500mbps or higher to math my fftp speeds

@Welshy89 When you put the password in, 2nd password are you using the Your WiFi password from the card on the back of the router?

And i use the Asus RP-AX58 which is very similar to the TP-Link and did connect via wps, and then had to go in and rename the device SSID to match the EE SSID as it kept the original asus name.

It asked me to create a password which I did and then it is saying connection from router to to link failed with the red x I have also then tried to wipe the tether app uninstall re install and try the same putting WiFi password from back of router and still the same issue.

I will now be sending this back. And will look for another one I might give the Wavlink a go
