There are connections available if the user would wish to have an External Aerial fitted, but there are many different types available and not all work or increase the mobile signal and the user has to determine and purchase those IF required. If the customer finds that possibly an external aerial helps at least the router has a couple of connections to do so. EE i believe just do a yes signal is available, how may people are disappointed when the have a poor mobile signal.

Got my smart hybrid connect set up and no matter where I place it in the house, including up in the roof where I would be able to connect it to the network via cable, I only get 1 bar of signal. Despite the ee coverage saying in our road we should have a good 4g inside and out, that’s rubbish. I tried literally hanging it out of the window and got 2 bars. Obviously can’t leave it like that, so was interested in how to get hold of a compatible external aerial to boost the signal?

Good afternoon @Lest44, welcome to the EE Community.

As far as I'm aware we don't have an official means of supplying an external aerial for the Smart Hybrid connect, but if you're struggling with connection I'd definitely recommend reaching out to our technical team so we can run through every option we can to help.

There is a thread over on the BT Community with a few users highlighting success at boosting their signal with third party options too, so that's definitely worth checking out.

Hi Peter_W
I received my new ee smart hub plus and separate hybrid connect hub today. I too received it with no aerials for the rear, after spending a LONG time on the sales call explaining that I live in a "challenged" area for 4g/5g signal and would need the aerials.

Who do I speak to about getting some aerials sent? Oh and before someone says 'you need to buy them', I already pay double the monthly cost of superfast broadband for a 36mb connection...

Please help.

Thanks.

You would have thought EE could confirm with the device manufacturers what they are for. It could be to provide a better signal for the wifi to the router or are they as we expect so an external aerial system can be connected? If so what sort of impedance/gain or whatever is needed for a 4g aerial system that would be suitable. Happy to buy them but at least give us some clues EE. They put the sockets on the back so they should know. Otherwise they could have made it cheaper for EE by not adding the extra hardware and components to support them.
