I had a BT Router for years and no issues connecting to my macbook Pro 2012. Either on Wifi or ethernet.
Just switched over to EE and with the new router, ethernet does not work and wifi does not connect. Just says an error with no reason. This is on Wifi 6 and wifi 5.

Any help please.

Which router do you have, is this a new service as well as a change, when did you switch over activate? You can put the BT router back on it will work. Post back your answer.

Save and possibly may request router reset. Ethernet connection is strange for a mac book, cannot remember if it has led status on the side of the macbook for its ethernet port, if so have a look, assume you have tried different cable and swapped ports at the router. You haven't fixed the IP on the mac ethernet for example.

You are NOT answering the question asked. DO YOU KNOW if the port is working on the router or not. Put the old router back on, you are not gaining anything unless you are on DV and the older router does not have a port.

Well seeing if I was in and have not checked, I ask how would I give a reply to something I have not checked?
Your question is "And you know that the router port is working or not?" You choose not to say what port or anything. Then demand I should give an answer to something I do not know. Seeing the port, could be the ethernet and that worked fine on the BT router. But then it is a router, it has LAN Ports vs WAN Port. I use the same LAN port as I did my PC with the same cable and that works. But when it comes to my laptop, nothing happens.

Also when I connect to wifi on my laptop, it says there is an error and asks for the pw for the wifi, repeats the error. Give it a few minutes and it reconnects on its own.

But then the EE wifi hotspot does not connect at all, to my laptop or my Iphone 12

What is the current wpa mode set for on the router. Two settings i would try first is the wpa mode that you found to work and then the wireless mode probably at default Wi-Fi 6 Performance to wifi 5 compatible, save as you change the option, may ask you to reset.

Is it just apple devices with the issues, they are really fussy, daughters iphone 8 is on WPA2-Personal and when i had my older sky router that was how the macbook pro same as you have, but grand daughter now has it. Easier to change with your PC as it is connected. Will get back to the ethernet if you can get those devices stable on wireless.

When I am home the EE Wifi hotspot does not connect. But when I had BT it would connect no problem,
WPA is set to WPA-WPA 2, that is the only way my laptop would connect to the router (Non hotspot)
But with WPA-WPA 2, my iphone will not connect to it. Putting it to WPA 3 then my phone connects to it.

Wifi 5 no internet for hotspot
Wifi 6 no internet for hotspot
Wifi 5 or 6 with WPA 3, no internet for hotspot

Phone only connects to home wifi with WPA3.
I only have my Iphone and Macbook.

I tried a old ethernet cable on my macbook and that works ok. But the new one from BT does not work on my macbook.
As for EE hotspot, it connected to my macbook with no login, after asking for a login and not working.
But then does not work on my phone at all.

Never had any issues with BT for a decade, plug in and thats it.
EE all these issues.

Do you know what the specific model of the older BT router was? The replacement router that was sent does appear to be the EE Smarthub+ Model SH31B and all off its OOB settings are looking like they are not good for your apple, WPA3 is fine for the phone, but not sure if the macbook pro is up there, will surf and try to find.
