Extender for SH31B.

Hello there 👋

I have just had an SH31B hub installed and am looking for an extender upstairs. I have read posts saying that I need an SW30A extender but cannot see where I can buy one. Does EE sell them? EE also recommended a TP Link extender but I am technically illiterate and don't know which one.

Any help most gratefully received.

The SW30A's are provided on a subscription basis and the add-on is called 'Smart WiFi', details here. I don't think they're sold outright by EE.

Smart WiFi Plus is not included in Essential & All Rounder plans. Which plan do you have?

@BDPA1977 The extender is an add on service from EE, think the cost is an additional £10/month and up to '3 units if required' and only if you wish to go that way. From answer above @bobpullen if you click on the word "here" it will take you to the explanation of the service. HTH

Possible TP-Link if you wish to look at the outright purchase, that should work with your new EE router.

You can buy 1 to 3 Smart WiFi+ for £100 outright.

I'm not sure that's an option? The £100 quoted on that page relates to the bill credit Wi-Fi guarantee.

The Legal bit:

If we still cannot solve any WiFi blackspots, then you can claim back a £100 on-off bill credit.

@bobpullen : I read that as you get the £100 bill credit if it doesn't meet the guarantee of reaching your not spots. Anyway a significant bill credit can always be claimed as a refund to your payment method. Otherwise if it works you've bought them for £100 outright.

It's a Money-back guarantee! You can't give money back unless you have spent money in the 1st place 😉 .

@BDPA1977 The TP-Link page on amazon, does display units at lower speed and hence lower price. You should go for a make that is better recognised, may have less problems.

@BDPA1977 Your choice really, they are all good, your router is AX compatible, or AC backward also, whatever you like best.

I’ve just got the new hub and had a weak WiFi signal from my ev charger. Bought the tp re700x set up was easy and situated it between device and hub. But the ev is still showing weak signal and connected to the router rather than the extender.

@Maxi1441 Make sure when it was set up that the SSID name matched the EE Router, sometimes the TP-Link puts on a EXT at the end of the name for extended network, then you will have to use the tp link app to go in and rename. Use you phone to see what available networks are there.

@Maxi1441 When you setup the Tp-Link RE700X did you just use the WPS button on router/EE to pair both devices, or did you use the app to get it done, have an OP post @Welshy89 trying to setup the unit.
