URGENT HELP REQUIRED 2.4 or 5GHZ Cant connect to cctv devices

Hi.. Before I lose the will to live could someone offer me some support asap please...

I took delivery of a new router / smart hub this week and started to connect l devices, no probs so far. When I tried to connect both of my CCTV systems it would work. My Alexa and Ring have connected with no issues.. I tried the following and still no joy..

Disabled 5GHZ to allow cctv to connect to 2.4
I have tried a number of 2.4Ghz channels
Reset router
Reset devices and the associated app
Called EE spent around 3 hours in total on phone
Spoke to CCTV companies who confirm no issue with services or devices
Looked at the advice online and followed that

The devices connected to my last smart hub no problem. It seems whatever I disable or reset the cameras / App just won’t connect to the WIFI. EE have been little help and keep telling e to go back to the manufacturer of cctv or the app creator. They have ordered me a new router to try that one.

I have little hope that another brand new router will resolve the issue. I need the CCTV up and running today! I can’t leave the house without the cctv on and EE don't seem to understand or care!

Welcome to the community.

I notice this was posted in the mobile broadband board, but you mention a smart router. Could you confirm if it's a mobile broadband router or a mobile router please?

@SF7777 Have you tried to match the security type for the Wi-Fi signal on the EE router?

Have you checked the router’s home page and see if the CCTV is listed there, and if you can change the IP address is uses to a fixed one.

@SF7777 Log into the EE router 192.168.1.254, then goto the advanced settings, select the wireless box, enter the admin password for the router and hit ok, the wireless settings will open set the security to WPA2-Personal, then save the setting.

This is the most common setting for older devices then see if your cctv can join the router.

Hi Jim,

Just logged in: Looking at the settings the 2.4GHz is already on WPA2-Personal, however I have noticed a drop down box that lists the following other channels:

WPA-WPA2-Personal
WPA3-Personal
WP3A-Personal-Transition

@SF7777 You may have to try the wireless mode: back to wireless 5. WPA2-Personal is normally good, do you know what the cctv camera supports with it's version type?

Do you mean wireless as in just use the 5GHz? Both of the systems I have connect to 2.4 that's what the app tells me it has to be.

How do i do the wireless mode thanks

@SF7777 It's on the same screen as the WPA2 settings, but is the last option called wi-fi (5) mode, not 5ghz, that is the speed frequency, also send the CCTV camera type by reply so i can have a look at its spec.

Hi i have changed it to the 5 and will try now to connect the devices and get back to you ina min, they are wireless indoor ones, two different providers:

IMOU Life and Little Elf.

little elf unable to connect, the imou says the device is registered but the wifi signal is poor, which isnt the case, its deffo the router.

@SF7777 Which router did you have before the change, are the cctv camera's portable and able to be moved closer to the new EE router, how do you know that the 2.4ghz signal is not poor, do you have a wi-fi analyser on your mobile that says your signal is good near the camera?
