You won't get a dial tone from the phone socket; only from the router or the digital phone adapter.

I believe it’s a copper line as it uses my original connection from the telegraph pole.

However, my plan is now with New EE and all communication is through the Internet.

Is the BB working, maybe slower than usual? What is the name of your BB plan?

Locate the hidden test socket that is revealed when you remove the bottom half of the split faceplate (2 screws or press tabs) of your master socket. Only do this if you have a split faceplate. Do you have any extension sockets in the home even if unused? Are there any wires connected to back of faceplate of master socket?

Plug the phone into the test socket. Are you getting a dial tone now?

What is that? Is it a DECT handset? If it is, you would be better plugging it's base station into the socket on the smart hub (a simple splitter will allow it along with your other phone) and then the handset should connect to the base station. If the smart hub is like the BT DV one, it'll be using it's own version of DECT, which is why I don't suggest trying to pair the handset with the smart hub itself.

Ah, sorry, I thought you meant a phone you already had - if it came supplied with the hub it should have a "pair phone" option in the setting menu. I'm not familiar with the phone suppiled with the EE Hub.

Isn't that handset a cordless DECT phone, not a base station? It's meant to pair with the incorporated DECT base station in the router over DECT. Have you paired them by pressing the WPS button on the router?

When you go to make a call, do you not get a dial tone on the phone? On the BT digital voice handset, ( or indeed other wireless DECT handset) if you press the green phone icon to make a call, you will normally hear a dial tone.
