I am not able to do that since I can't access the old router. Should I try to do it before connecting it to the new router?

I had a broadband before with the EE Smart Hub but recently I renewed my contract and was sent new gear (the 2023 one). After setting up I thought I could use the old router as an extender. As I am trying to access the old router's hub manager I'm typing the admin password and it comes up as incorrect. I am not typing the wifi password by accident and the password is not wrong. I have copied the password that is on the back of the router and I have factory reset it a couple of times to try to solve the problem. The password has never been changed. Could anyone help me figure out why this is happening?

Yes, always config an intended secondary router in isolation unconnected to BB.
