Sorry, but you're not really answering my Qs. Whose computer is actually running the game, NM the person acting as host?

Hi,

I have been port forwarding on my ee smart hub route for my PS5 gaming. After I open a port I see an improvement in latency for 1 game in a lobby and then after the match ends and I enter a new lobby my latency returns to being terrible.

I wanted to check here to see if I'm port forwarding correctly.

What I do is: e.g (internal 3478 : 3479) (external 3478:3479) ,then I specify udp or tcp, the ip address for my ps5 is also put in correctly.

Would be a big help to find out if I'm doing something incorrectly here,

Thx for your time,

For the custom port probe, it said 'closed' in blue, even though it was open on the route page. What does this mean?

I should be more clear,

I entered a port I had opened on my router into the custom port probe scanner. The result was a blue box with 'closed' in it.

<STRIKE>What route page?</STRIKE>

If the port says "CLOSED" & not "Stealth" it means to port has been port forwarded correctly but the server assigned to that port is not up & running.

I still ask do you really need to be port forwarding? Are you hosting a game server for others to connect to remotely unsolicited?

Some games do not have dedicated servers, and picks a host from the players in the lobby.

not it is not helpful your still not explaining the port configuration ie is the wan port and lan port need to be the same number or can it be different

The External/Public/WAN port is usually the same as the Internal/Private/LAN port but could be diff. It's up to you running the server as to what External port you want to present to external users to access your server. The Internal port is determined by the coding &/or config of your server.
