Hi, that's exactly what I have to keep doing.

i.e. open Sonos app to play some music. The app can't see my speakers. Check and manually change the WiFi connection. I can use my apps again. Until it happens again.

Steve.

I frequently find my smart home devices stop responding - SONOS, Hue, etc. This happens on phone, iPad and Mac. After some checking, I found I was still connected to Wi-Fi and the internet, BUT NOT MY WI-FI!!

There is a new network EE WiFi-Auto that was recently added automatically - I did not register or approve this connection. It seems to be similar to the BTWi-Fi service. However, BTWi-Fi never connects automatically at home - only when I'm out. EE WiFi-Auto seems to be joined most days. Of course, once connected to EE WiFi-Auto I can no longer access anything on my home network.

I've turned off AutoJoin which should fix it. EE WiFi-Auto was added automatically to my devices. I don't know if my BT Broadband router has started to broadcast this SSID or if perhaps a neighbour has an EE box. Either way, it was added without my knowledge. This page is too vague to shed any light onto how it is designed to work: https://www.bt.com/ee

Steve

That's the crux of the matter:

Your phone will detect the hotspots as they come into range, and seamlessly connect. All of this happens behind the scenes and in the blink of an eye with no notifications, so you can get on with your day.

It does this in my own home - then I can't get on with my day - I've never had BT-WiFi override my BT-ZZ9ZZA home wifi, but this is what EE WiFi Auto is doing.

I'll try and raise an issue with them.

Steve
