Some ISP's have ways of blocking some numbers, but they are only partly effective.

For me, the only thing that has worked is a simple call blocking phone, callers have to press a number before my phone rings. That stops all the automated calls, but anyone with a person on the end, hears the message and presses the number to get through or to be able to leave a message.

I have EE broadband and landline, there are only 2 places that have my landline phone number: the school and the doctors surgery.

I've had to disconnect my phone as the spam phonecalls are constant. I have looked for some kind of support on this from EE online but nothing regarding malicious and unwanted calls on your land line. What am I missing? You used to have to mark yourself as ex-directory back in the day. Is that even a thing anymore. I'm so frustrated with it.

Hi @MRSCLAIREF

Ex directory doesn't make any difference if your number is already out in the public domain. You can call EE and ask them for a new number, or connect an answerphone and allow that to filter calls as most automatic dialing services will hang up when the answerphone answers..

You can also register here:

Being ex-directory does not stop them. Some spam call centres have their automated dialing machine work their way through every number in an area code, and move on to the next one if the previous does not exist or does not answer. They are more likely to do this for a big city area code.

Our number has recently been added to the Telephone Preference Service but, alas, we are still getting annoying spam calls. Our block list on our landline is now FULL, and we have no other way of blocking calls. I wish EE had a way of adding unwanted calls to an online list via the recent calls screen in billing.

@Profile closed Depending on the specific landline phone you have, you do need to clear out the blocked call list to free up memory on the phone so it can continue to work, features in newer phones, if they are not in your phone book then the phone just does not even ring, and if the caller is not able to listen to the request they just don't get through, think panasonic call it a nussiance call block feature.
