I am trying to get information about the social tariff broadband. If I change to a company that does have a social tariff will I have to pay to cancel my contract?

Yes, of course. You committed to take a contract with EE for a min. term. If you don't see that min. term out you are liable for early termination fees, regardless of where you are going to or why.

@Sue8451 depending upon your circumstances and where you hope to transfer to, it may be worth giving the Broadband Care team a call.

For example, if you hoped to move to BT, as EE are in the same group, but who do not offer a social tariff, you may get a sympathetic response. Less so if you hope to move to a rival.

On the basis "if you don't ask, you don't get" it has to be worth a call.

If you’re with EE or plusnet you can switch to BT Home essentials £20 pm for fibre broadband and unlimited calls without penalty. Details on pic attached @Sue8451 if you just want broadband (no calls) it’s £15 pm and if you just want calls (no broadband) it’s £10 pm. Google BT Home essentials for more info

That’s not entirely correct. If you have a contract with EE or plusnet you can swap to BT (who offer a social tariff) as they’re part of the same group and you’ll not be penalised for leaving your existing contract. Admittedly if you’re leaving the group altogether to go to a different supplier then you’ll likely be charged an exit fee.
