Second router

I have an EE Smart Hub in my front room of my house and I need internet in my new garden office. I have an Ethernet cable in the new office which is linked to the house. Could I buy a second smart hub router to plug in? And if so, how would I set this up please?

Is the electric in your garden office from the house?

Think about powerline adaptors.

Yes it’s from the house but it has its own trip out there.

@NaomiSK if your ethernet cable is plugged into your router, and the garden office there are a couple of options.

Do you need

1. ethernet access,

2. Wi-Fi access

3. or both?

A simple network switch would work for 1.

A wireless extender would work for 2 a more complex one for 3.

Have a look at Wi Fi range extenders, and maybe Whole Home Wi Fi on the currys site.

EE also does Wi Fi extenders, but another EE router could be used, but an expensive solution, unless you have a spare one.

@Mustrum thank you SO much for your reply.

We only require wifi access but we do require it to be a good signal as the garden office will be used for online teaching and we can’t be dropping signal mid lessons.

Our signal generally throughout our house is already quite poor so we were considering a mesh (if that’s the right term) to help boost around the house but I’m unsure if this would be strong enough if used in the garden office as well.

To give you a rough idea, our house is approx 1,200 sq ft. No thick walls. Current router is in the front room. The garden office is our garage converted and the door into the office is 5metres from the back of the house.
We currently don’t really get wifi in the garden at all.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thank you

Going back to my earlier link - other retailers are available and taking into consideration you may move providers at some stage in the future https://www.currys.co.uk/computing/networking/whole-home-wi-fi-systems one of the Whole House Mesh systems should meet your needs.

How about this one, I have heard good things, it should cover your whole house and office, I have no personal link to Currys or TP Link and so on,
