I need to temporarily switch my router to give a 2G supply so that I can link in a WiFi controlled radiator to be controlled by my phone. Once its connected i can go back to 5G, but need it on 2G to connect first. How do I do this please?

@Ogb2 Do you mean 2.4Ghz and not 2G
the cellular signal the router picks up is not the signal the radiator uses.

You have a network connection, this is the connection between the router and the EE network

and you have a Wi-Fi connection, this is the connection from your router to the devices within your home. ( this will have a Wi-Fi name that your device see and use a passcode to connect to). There is 2 frequency that you can connect your devices to one is 2.4Ghz the other is 5Ghz. Most home appliances use the 2.4Ghz spectrum.

you need to login to your router as an admin and temporary turn off 5Ghz so your router is only putting out the 2.4Ghz signal that your radiator wants to connect too.

You may be getting different parts of the tech mixed up here.

Your router uses EE's mobile network to provide a data connection - this is done over 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G depending on various factors.

Your router then provides a WiFi hotspot to any mobile device in a short range - this could be over 2.4Ghz and/or or 5Ghz, again depending on which router it is

The "mobile in" & "WiFi out" are separate parts of the jigsaw, and neither has any impact on the other. Except that if data is over 2G or 3G it may be rather slow/unusable depending what you're doing.

Thanks all for your input, I was meaning Ghz - I am trying to link home appliances that require 2.4Ghz but I cannot seem to switch my router from 5Ghz. There are no 'advance settings' on the app / hug that I have access to that are noted in other chat streams. I have the white EE smart wifi router

With the white EE Smart Router, unlike the black EE Smart Hub, you cannot separate the wireless bands/SSIDs. The most you can do is on the Advanced > Wireless Settings page to temporarily disable the 5 GHz band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.
