topic Moving into a house with live EE broadband, can I use another EE router? in Broadband & Landline

Hi all. My moving into a new house that has EE, but the existing owners didn't notify EE that they were moving until too late. Meaning I can't switch over (not EE) to the new house for 3 weeks. Because of my work this is unacceptable. If I bought an EE router, could I plug that in as usual and use it as hotspot, or would this not work without the existing email and password?

I am changing, but I can't change until 3 weeks after I move in. So I need an internet solution for the first 3 weeks. Hence why Im asking if I could buy an EE router and plug it in, seeing as the line will be live?

So you will almost certainly need their account details to set up a router, and of course their permission as they will get billed for your usage. If they’ve cancelled their direct debit that would lead to a whole world of pain for them (debt collectors especially).

You could use any compatible router but you would need to know the original owners' BB creds to put into the router. If you could get hold a compatible EE router & reset it, it would pick these up automatically.

BB is not charged by amount of usage, only by a monthly subs. If they cancelled their DD that is their own lookout.

None of which affects the OP, other than the legal permission.

When I was with EE, only evening and weekend calls were included. Any other calls were charged.
