I’ve just switched broadband from BT to EE. The switch happened a few days ago, and I was too busy to install the new EE hardware.
My BT equipment is still working (although the phone line has stopped as my new package excludes this).

Question: will I be okay to continue with my old BT equipment? (It would be really helpful as there are discs allowing mesh coverage across the property and I won’t need to update all my printer/tv/devices with new passwords etc)

What types of BB have you switched between?

You may use any compatible router with EE BB. As you've found, BT routers do work on EE BB, even down to using the BT BB creds unchanged.

I have fibre to the property, and am running a BT smarthub 2, with 3 or 4 discs. I haven't changed anything in the setup, other than the provider, which EE handled (and I had confirmation from BT that the service is terminated). So I haven't updated creds, equipment or anything!
Although the BT app says my contract is terminated and my next bill will be zero, I can still update my parental controls etc. on there.

I also thought BT require the router back when accounts close?

When/if you do move to using your EE router, you could always change the WiFi SSID and password to the same as the BT one, then your devices should connect without changing them.

I’ve been with them for years so maybe BT don’t want the equipment back - they haven’t asked yet!

This is an old thread but changing router should not need to reconnect all the kit that was using the old one. Just change the Name of the router and its password to those of the old router
