Having EE fttp installed in a couple of weeks, want to use my trusted old TP-Link router (Archer AX3000) would like to know how to config for EE.

Used to use it on BT was simply a matter of connect via PPPoE and entering a username and password, is this the same on EE

Yes, In Home Broadband settings you'll find everything you need to set up your own router. It'll even work with BT Retail BB creds as you had been doing.
