However if you log into the router, go to the advanced section and turn off the 6Ghz band, then try again with the Ring device.

The router also has different modes on the Wi-Fi, whilst the 5Ghz band is still off, try each on the modes to see if one works.

Depending on the router you may be able to separate the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands and give the latter a slightly different name/SSID - adding a 5 to the end is the easiest way. It should work with the black Smart hub, but not the white Smart Router.

For the black EE Smart Hub, but not the white EE Smart Router, try separating the wireless bands/SSIDs. On the Advanced > Wireless Settings page of the SH there is a button near the top to Separate the Bands. Turn it ON. Then the 5GHz SSID will appear starting with "5GHz-" & the 2.4 GHz SSID not starting with "5GHz-". Then connect your devices to the 2.4 GHz SSID if they can't do 5GHz. The Smart Router doesn't allow this.

I run a Ring doorbell from a split band router all the time on EE Fibre BB. It has no trouble auto reconnecting even when the router is reset.

With the white EE Smart Router, unlike the black EE Smart Hub, you cannot separate the wireless bands/SSIDs. The most you can do is to temporarily disable the 5 GHz band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.

No, I'm giving you at least a partial workaround.

I had a problem connecting my ring doorbell after the 2.4 and 5.0Ghz on my white router were split for me by EE. I saved the settings after the split. I then turned off the 5.0Ghz band and set the 2.4Ghz band to channel 1. I then tried connecting the doorbell and it worked! I then restored the settings to get the 5.0Ghz band back and it all stayed working. So far so good
