New installation of EE900mb not even hitting the gauranteed minimum

I was promised 900mb and I am only seeing 200ish. I moved from BT and I was getting a better speed with them. I called and was told it will take time to settle down.

Sorry but I am an IT Professional and there is no settling down needed. Either the speed is set to allow 900 or its not.

The BT circuits are actually in the BT manhole cover in my front garden.

I spoke to BT today and they confirm that I should be capable of hitting 900, they tested tot he end point.

The router is stating that the speed is 1000mb or 1gb.

I have tried two speed checkers and both report the same speeds.

There must be an issue with the account, its almost as though the speed is being throttled.

Someone really needs to deal with this issue and do not attempt to feed me any more Bull.

The router doesn't know the BB speed; only the ONT would. The router is reporting the LAN speed, 1 Gig, of the Ethernet connections.

Have you tried setting up a direct ONT - Device PPPoE connection?

@BruceCraig unlike the BT forum, no one on here has visibility of your account or can do much other than offer suggestions.

So as an IT professional, first thing to try is narrow down the issue. There have been reports of EE routers not giving the max speeds on the 900Mbps service, I think BT may have had similar problems until a firmware fix. So you could:

1. wait a bit to see if your router is updated.

2. Eliminate the router with a direct connection as already mentioned.

3. Replace the router with the BT one, or one of your own.

You do not mention if your testing to the speed check sites were via Wi-Fi or ethernet, or if there is a difference between either method of testing.

No-one on the BT forum has account access except the mods, they only get involved when a trusted member asks them.

My original point to the OP was that they needed to provide more information, rather than them seeming expecting staff on here to be able to look at their account and fix something.
