There's not a very fast FTTC available there. You should get 18 - 32 Meg Down & 4 - 6 Meg Up. Only order standard Fibre not Fibre Plus.

Apologies if these topics are covered elsewhere, but I'm struggling to make a decision!

Currently have EE basic broadband and a BT landline and I'm happy with both. However, I'm considering upgrading the broadband to what EE call "Fibre Broadband", which I would call FTTC. This can allegedly give me between 16 and 30Mbit/s for an extra tenner on top of what I currently pay. I can currently get about 11Mbit/s on ADSL2+, so am I right in thinking my FTTC speed would be a lot better than 16Mbit/s or only a marginal improvement? The ADSL2+ currently syncs at 14Mbit/s with a 3dB SNR margin on a line loss of about 33dB.

Second question: I assume this is a self-install upgrade and that I can use my existing modem/router (after switching it to VDSL) with no need for engineer visit?

Third question: I assume I can keep my existing BT landline number if I just upgrade the broadband, but if I went with an EE provided landline, I could still keep my old landline (BT) number?

Really would prefer full fibre, but I don't think I want Virgin, even though my son, who lives near me, gets 200Mbit/s!! Wow!

Thanks!

In answer to your Qs:

To gauge your speeds on FTTC what does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

Unless you've got yourself your own modem router capable of VDSL as well as ADSL it is unlikely that your existing EE modem router is suitable but they will send you a suitable 1 FoC. There should be no eng. visit needed to your home but they will need to attend at your local cab. to switch you over.

You can keep your existing landline no. Make sure when you apply for EE Fibre that you fill in your existing no. on the form.
