Flashing Aqua light - previously flashing red

Seems like a local cabinet was crashed into. Broadband was out for many customers on our street, for BT, EE, others except Virgin. It was out most of Tuesday, back late Tuesday night, out again Wednesday morning, then back again later, until Friday evening.

Since Friday, yesterday the lights were mostly flashing red, now they’re flashing aqua. I’ve tried a thirty seconds or so cold boot of the box a few times, but each time it comes back to flashing aqua.

A fault has been logged, but they’re not yet aware I’ve switched to flashing aqua lights. Thanks.

Does the landline phone work? Do you get a dial tone? Does it announce your correct no. when you dial 1470 17070?

If it is a neighbourhood issue, you could consult BT Service Status to see if the fault is still being attended to in your local area.

Yes, Yes, Yes. Quiet line test was quiet except for the automatic announcements.

I tried the BT status page and it didn’t come up with anything. I’ve also tried letting the hub restart itself.

What does it say after you log into the router:

For a BrightBox: in the Internet section on the initial Status page or
For a Smart Hub: on the Advanced Settings > Broadband > Internet page?

Obscure your names & any digits in the BB Username but post the 1st 2 parts of the IP addy. This will tell us at which stage EE have got to.

Is this for ADSL BB or Fibre? Which router, BrightBox 1 or 2 or Smart Hub?

TCPIP Information, default gateway: not available. There was a button on the internet page saying connect, I tried the but it reverted to disconnected.

I believe it’s FTTC.

Also it’s a smart hub, says EE Smart Hub Manager at the top of the GUI

Thanks. That just confirms you are getting no BB connection from the cab.

In the morning Text HELP followed by your landline number to 60071
(charge may apply at your standard rate)

EE’ll run tests on your connection to find out what’s going on
If you need an engineer, EE’ll text you in 15 minutes to book a slot
If you don’t need an engineer, EE's team will call you within 30 minutes to help solve your issue

Any idea why, as per my original post, the lights changed from flashing red to flashing aqua? If flashing aqua essentially means no bb from the cabinet, then what do flashing red lights mean? Is it no carrier or dial tone either? Thanks.

No, I was surprised at that. There should be no flashing Red; solid Red would be a router fault. The sequence with no BB would be:

Solid Green: Starting up.
Flashing Yellow: Trying to connect to BB.
Flashing Aqua: Can't connect to BB.

Ahhh . . Well maybe I got that wrong then, maybe it was solid red. I should have taken a video. Note to self, next time take a video of the smart hub to make sure to get the light status right. Thanks. Though sounds like maybe sometimes it comes up red if there isn’t a signal or no power at the cabinet?

Can't see how router can tell there's no power to the cab. & distinguish it from no BB on line.

No, not unless there was some kind of carrier signal present powered by power at the cab. If there was still no power to the cabinet, would I have the dial tone still? Is the power there just for FTTC but not for the phone line itself?

There are 2 cabs:

The telephone cab to which your phone line goes before going to the exchange & its PSTN.
The fibre cab to which the fibre BB is syphoned off.
