EE Smart Router wifi speeds

Can anyone tell me if you can get gigabit wifi speeds with the EE Smart Router?

I recently upgraded to the EE 900 package, which has been an incredible step up from my sub 2 MB/S copper line! However, when using wifi I can't get speeds over 550 MB/S. Is this a limitation of the router?

I am using an I-Phone 12 (Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) with MIMO) which I think can handle faster speeds than 550. Now the interesting thing is when I use my laptop (2018 low end MacBook Air) If I use an ethernet connection, I get around 900 MB/S speeds & often above a gig. But when I only use wifi on the laptop I get the same 550 speeds as my phone.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Hi @STEPHAM10 the Smart router is Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) so real world Wi-Fi speeds are not going to be much higher than you are getting.

Alas I can't get full fibre where I am so can;t compare, and those that can only tend to respond on here if they are having issues - it is not as chatty as other places. You could have a look on the BT Forum, there should be more example over there, and the EE router is a rebadged BT one.

Forget the hub, I can guarantee you do not have any wireless device capable of 900mb speeds.

You'll get 500mb at most if lucky. As you are getting 550mb consider yourself very lucky.

The BT forum won't help you with this.
