Is EE broadband just rebranded BT broadband?

Hi,

I currently have BT broadband, my contract comes to an end soon and I’m undecided if to stay with BT or move to EE broadband. Is BT broadband basically the same as EE, are the hubs the same/similar, what’s the advantages of switching to EE.

I have 4 sim only deals with EE so that’ll make EE broadband cheaper than BT.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Like most ISPs, barring VM & a few obscure ones, EE BB uses the OR infrastructure of cabling & Fibre DSLAMs. It has its own home network & its own products & pricing. Its current routers are based on BT's with the associated deficiencies.

You would get a data boost on 1 of your EE mobile contracts when you take EE BB.

Thanks.

I appreciate both EE and BT (and others) use the OR infrastructure. My main concern is how good the EE hub is as the BT hub is the best I’ve had and is far better and more reliable than Sky and VM - performance wise.

if the EE hub is as good as the BT hub then it’s an easy decision, I’ll swap as soon as I can, if not, then I’ll have to think otherwise.

Thanks

The EE Fibre routers are based on the BT Fibre SH routers. They will have similar performance & the same deficiencies, as I said. The latter are mainly with the issues of separating the WiFi bands & these can be seen all over both the BT & the EE Communities.
