2.4ghz smart plugs and EE Smart router

Hi,

I've literally just set up my new EE Smart router. Everything is working fine but when I go to connect my smart plugs/doorbell it just won't connect as they use the 2.4ghz band. Is there anyway I can split them or something? Some help would be appreciated

With the Smart Router there's no way of telling which band you are connecting to unless you disable 1 of the bands.

Beat way to try is to disable the 5GHz band, connect the 2.4GHz device & then reenable the 5GHz band.

Did you have any success? I have the same problem and tried turning off 5G channel without success.

Hi. I just got my new smart router today and managed to connect my three Calex smart plugs by going into the advanced settings of the wireless section and turning off 5ghz and setting my 2.4ghz to channel 11. Once connected I returned them all to the original settings and they seem to be working fine.

@AliC4 : No. With the white EE Smart Router, unlike the black EE Smart Hub, you cannot separate the wireless bands/SSIDs. The most you can do is on the Advanced > Wireless Settings page to temporarily disable the 5 GHz band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.

I know this is an old post but did you ever get a solution? I have the same issue with my sonoff switches. They only support 2.4ghz and the router only has 5ghz 😞

No, @BBB182 , it doesn't! It has both but you can't separate them. So just follow my advice above & all you can do is on the Advanced > Wireless Settings page to temporarily disable the 5 GHz band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.

Newer EE routers have a different option these days.

@Bonz_79 You may wish to also say which model off camera doorbell, and try not to go on a post so old, @Mustrum has asked you the relevant question to get started. More precise the info is, then less guessing needs to be done.

@Bobinfowey : Login to your EE Smart Hub/Router at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router. Then on the Advanced > Advanced Wireless page you should be able to change the WiFi settings as I recommend while you connect the doorbell.
