How do I change ee smart hub from 5GHz to 2.4GHz

How do I change ee smart hub from 5GHz to 2.4GHz... I need to connect some bulbs... then change it back again...

If anyone can help please...

For an EE Smart Hub, but not an EE Smart Router, try separating the wireless channels. On the Advanced / Wireless Settings page of the SH there is a button near the top to Separate the Bands. Turn it ON. Then the 5GHz SSID will appear starting with "5GHz-" & the 2.4 GHz SSID not starting with "5GHz-". Then connect your devices to the 2.4 GHz SSID if they can't do 5GHz.

Well, it's the normal login page of a router. Login to your EE SH at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router.

Everything is to the letter until I try and save it. Then it says saving…. Stalls and then quits causing me to reset the system on the box.

I think it's the EE Smart Hub. It's got black ears and has two semi -circle lights on the front. When I log into the Smart Hub dashboard it says EE Smart Hub. So... I guess that is it. Right?

@Jjhjr : Don't sound like it unless you've got it upside down & what you call "ears" are feet. The 2 lights at front are just slightly curved slots. Post a pix of it.

Ha. Right. Sorry, I know that. They are the feet. I just snapped them back on after they had fallen off. And the lights are the curved slots on the front.

@Jjhjr : Right, that is the EE Smart Hub. You ought to be able to split the WiFi Bands & save it. Try rebooting it. beforehand.

Well, I tried rebooting it. If I split and save, it's fine. However, I'm not able to see the 2.4 network on any devices. If I search for it, it won't connect. So, then I tried to separate and turn off the 5ghz. All good until I try to save then it just shows that it's saving changes. Which I think is a lie 🙂 or wishful thinking. This screen continues until I try to do something then it turns off all wifi bands and I'm left to reset it on the back. Despite my best optimism this is becoming a well-known pattern.

Basically I need 2.4ghz to pair with devices like my poorly designed Wahoo cycling head unit and my Snoo baby cot. Maybe I need a time machine?

I would not click on the button that separates the bands. I would just disable 5GHz, save that change, try pairing up the bulbs. Once everything is done, including then connecting them to any 3rd party apps used to control them, or devices, I would then re-enable 5GHz and save the change again. To be double sure, you can then click reset to recommended, but probably just being overkill doing so. That is what worked for our 2.4 Ghz bulbs.

So I have same issue. I am on the advanced settings page and I can toggle off the 5ghz button but when I try to save it warms me I will then potentially lose access to all the devices that are set up on that band as well as. The admin page. So my question is if I do that and lose access to the admin page advanced settings how do I then get in to switch the 5ghz band back on and will I then have to reconnect every device I have??

@Traceyk63 : You reconnect your device (PC?) to the router again but over the 2.4 GHz band. You'll then be able to config. the router to turn the 5 GHz band back on. You may then have to reconnect your device.

I suspect you have a mobile router & you've latched onto a thread about a fixed BB router which will have a diff IP Gateway.
