I purchased e a new 2025 Samsung TV and cant connect to my Broadband which is 900MBS via the EE Hub, comes back with an error, Automatic IP setup failed. I entered an IP address manually of 192.168.1.188, Subnet mask:@ 255.255.255.0, Gateway, 192.168.1.254 and DNS Server 8.8.8.8. Tried again to connect, same message.

I connected a Lan cable, and successfully connected immediately, connected via a Hotspot on my Iphone, connected immediately.

Also tried switching off / on the Hub, factory reset on TV, same problem.

Could it be due to the 5ghz being on channel 104?, if this is the case can it be overcome.

Tried to contact EE help desk, cant get past the BOT, keeps coming back as line tests OK. I tried adding ASSIST with no luck. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes devices may not be compatible with the default WiFi settings of EE Smart Hubs with their WPA3 Security. Try setting up Compatible WiFi on the router under Advanced > Wireless Settings > Config > Compatible WiFi (it defaults to 2.4 GHz only & WPA2) & connect your problematic 2.4 GHz or WPA2 devices to that. It presents itself as a separate network SSID of the form "MainSSID-Comp".

Hi, thanks for a very prompt reply, when I set up the compatibly option, will all my connected devices then switch to the compatibly Wi-Fi. I only want my new TV to use this set-up

@agh551 NO, only the device that you tell to use the wireless wifi ssid like EE-123456-Comp will connect to that, all your other devices stay as they are.

Your TV if you were to try the old trick ie disable the 5Ghz on the Main, connect the TV on wireless again and if it does connect and stick then you turn that Main 5Ghz back on, TV maintains to work you are sorted..... It can be the combined ssid 2.4/5Ghz or even the WPA3-Transitional for the Main wifi that Samsung cannot get past when first trying to Auto connect to the Wireless Wifi.

Not sure what a new Samsung is like but normally WPA2-Personal is WAY better operational wise for a TV, mine play's horrible on wireless so because of were it is at an Ethernet connected to an AP has sorted it out, not going to be chasing a stupid wireless wifi connection and fighting it all the time, just not worth the frustration or effort. Sony one has NO such issues, it has been on wireless wifi for years and never falters at all. Could be the CH100 but most modern devices and if it see's the ssid name when you check and select, unless you switch off the Main 2.4Ghz band you do not have any idea were the Samsung is try to connect to higher or lower ie 5/2.4Ghz.

You may have to look at the Samsung TV Model and Specifications to see what in the wireless wifi world that the TV can operate in. The fact that you have a Comp mode you would appear to have one off the three latest EE Hubs also.

Jim, thanks for a very comprehensive reply. I took the compatibly mode option and the tv connected immediately. I have one of the newer EE Hubs, I think it is a Hub 7.
