The short code did work I think even though it said it wouldn't...

I'm on Ultrafast - as per my post title - so it's FTTP.

Quite a new connection (a couple of months) might other folks on the road being newly connected to the service cause interruptions?

Obviously the disconnection is inconvenient itself, but also the fact that I get a new WAN IP address each time.

For work I have multiple servers that I log onto to provide support and need to whitelist my IP to get access so it is a time consuming admin task every time it changes.

1) Is there a reason for the disconnects and might it be resolved?

2) Is there any way to get a static IP address?

Did think the EE IP's were quite sticky, may be not now?

2) NO, EE does not do fixed IP to customers, DDNS will get you somewhat of the way there to help. If you are a Business Customer to EE as the ISP, then it's a call to get Fixed, domestic then it's a NO.

Thanks for that.

Can I assume from your answer to 1) that I should not expect disconnects that change my IP every few days or even every couple of weeks on average?

I assumed that if my IP changes it is definitely not something 'at my end'.

I'll look into DDNS thanks.

P.S. FYI texting HELP to 66033 gets the response "Sorry this automated service is no longer available"...

P.P.S. And even so they still seem to then begin testing my lines...

Usually EE external public IPs are fairly sticky. Mine's been up for 12.5 days.

Have you considered making use of a DDNS service such as the free No-IP ?

Thanks for the advice. It seems there is an 'issue' locally, though whether it is connected I'll find out maybe.

Not sure a service like No-IP will help me with enterprise level security. One gets the feeling it's the kind of thing that shouldn't hehe, but I'll see.
