Is Digital phone and adapter usable with 3rd party router?

I have an almost new TP-Link Archer VX1800v which has a socket marked PHONE. It's an RJ11 socket, but I have a couple of adaptors converting an RJ11 plug to PSTN socket (one active, one passive) from previous experiments in VoIP.

I also have a Grandstream VoIP handset, which connects to Ethernet and is managed via a browser, but that's for another time.

I can't test either of them at the moment as my service is not yet connected, just looking to manage my expectations as to the likelihood of success (or failure...)

If you want to have DV with EE you must use their supplied router. If you have VoIP from a VoIP provider then you may use any router they suggest.

@Jaggies The Tp-Link VX1800v should work if you wish to use it on the DSL connection once you setup the User/Password, and the PPPoE/vlan credentials for it all from the Third Party connection modem, but you will lose all the DV landline function so no phone operation.

The DVA will only work with the supplied EE Hub that was sent to you.

A thought - can the EE hub be used in router only mode, with the TP-Link acting as the modem?

The main reason for not wanting to use the EE hub is the lack of external aerials. The TP-Link router has excellent wireless coverage from its four external aerials, despite it being on the wrong side of a 3 foot thick stone wall.

I guess I'll just have to experiment with different set-ups when I go live.

No, if you want DV, the EE router has to be the 1st downstream of the BB supply, either from the ONT modem for FTTP or from the phone socket with it providing the modem for FTTC.

Which is yours FTTP (Full Fibre) or FTTC?

It's FTTC.

If the DV adaptor doesn't work with 3rd party routers, I'll just have to bite the bullet.

Hi, I have the same problem when trying to configure an EE home phone adapter to my Unifi network hardware, gateway, switches and wireless access points was hoping this would just connect wirelessly to the LAN but looks as if it will only work with the supplied smart hub plus. Can the supplied hub work as a switch on the Unifi LAN and then connect the phone to that, or does it need to be the primary (1ST connected to the incoming cable) has anyone found a solution?

@Colin74 : The EE suppled router does need to be the primary (1st connected to the incoming cable). That is the only solution for having DV on EE & using some other router.

The EE ATA adapter will only connect, by DECT signal, to the EE router & none other.

@Colin74 Got to be First in line with Everything else hanging of the EE, whatever way you wish to do that, Routing or AP modes off operation.
