Why forced from G.Fast? Could you not just leave it alone? G.Fast should still be available there as SoGEA.

Why not forced to VDSL2, rather than as low as ADSL? VDSL2 should still be available there as SoGEA.

Hi EE or anyone?

I've recently been forced to down grade from g.fast to <STRIKE>ADSL</STRIKE> VDSL (80Mb) given no other options exist yet and I've just spent the day sorting out my network post migration.

On my journey I discovered this insanity: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-Landline/Router-page-renaming-connected-devices-how/td-p/1329694/page/4

So, now I've begrudgingly downloaded the app and infected my phone with it so EE can deliver their adverts and marketing can collect their data. Bravo. Except the app refuses to connect to the hub (after transmitting my admin password over the app). It just goes in circles asking me to switch off everything for two minutes, because that's so convenient.

Enough.

How do I fix this?

Can anyone at EE explain to me why the old hub had more advanced features than this 'new' junk?

Oh yeah and the box is *considerably* slower than the old box.

/rage

There is a phone in the picture but I've not investigated that bit yet. Its low priority, but I think I'll need some device to plug the phone into which I think EE provide if asked for.

I mistakenly put ADSL I mean VDSL or whichever is 80Mb these days. I could probably have agitated to stay on g.fast when they sent me the notification I was being moved based on the 2027 end date. But I've been watching the status of my local exchange on the openreach tool and it was very nearly at the point where the status indicates provision has begun and instead dropped back to merely planning. It was a bit disappointing and I'm guessing g.fast may be holding things up, maybe they need a clear out or something *shrug*.

I'll try again tomorrow. If it flails again I'll just have to call support. Thanks for the replies.

DV Digital voice is only going to be supported on fttc copper with a VDSL line fttc, and G.Fast is NOT according to OR. Better it get's done and sorted now or come the End Jan you have no broadband what so ever and emergency phone system only. All the ISP's are getting it done as quick as they can before Engineering resources run out of time...

It's not G.Fast per se that is forcing the downgrade to VDSL2. It's the need for DV & the fact that the only router in the EE metaverse that supports G.Fast, the white Smart Router, has no DV Phone port. So, quick, switch the OP to something that does provide DV & that will be VDSL2 (SoGEA) thro' an EE SH 6 + probably.
