Hi Could anyone shed some light on a problem i am having with our Tapo security cameras ?, ever since we upgraded to the EE smart hub 7 it keeps disconnecting them from the WiFi and wont let them reconnect, we have tried contacting EE and they blame the cameras but having contacted Tapo they say there is no problem with them, we have tried several different makes of camera but they all do the same I.E they will stay on maybe a day or sometimes less before disconnecting and none of them will re start back onto WiFi, we never had this problem with our other BT router before we changed to the EE one but EE wont have this they say it should still work the same, we have also tried changing channels and to compatibility mode but still have the same problem, any help would be gratefully received.

Thank You G

Try setting up Compatible WiFi on the router under Advanced > Wireless Settings > Config > Compatible WiFi (it defaults to 2.4 GHz only & WPA2) & connect your problematic 2.4 GHz devices to that.

Thank you for your reply.

i have already tried that on all the cameras we tried but still wont stay connected, its like the router finds the camera and disconnects it after a while

I have tried changing wifi chan between 1-6 and 11 on compatibility mode, I have tried taking smart mode off, every time they cant connect i change the wireless channel and they reconnect but they turn off after several hours again but every time i change the wifi channel it lets them re connect for a while then same problem occurs

Thank you for your reply, Its a pain when you try everything you can think of to sort it out, im only in a bungalow so wifi shouldn’t be a problem i have even tried with the wifi extender that came with the router and still no joy we are quite savvy with computers ect but this has us stumped, it just has to be the router

@Grandalise Honestly if you have a BT Smarthub2 version stick it back on the connection, EE are having a somewhat torrid time just now with all the EE FW updates, and the fixes although fixing the issues they created, are now showing cracks in the woodwork again.

Look closely at the spec off the devices with the issue, and if WPA2-Personal is as good as they get, then off the Main wifi instantly get the Comp setup making 100% sure it's all set WPA2-Personal and then redirect them to the new SSID with the -Comp that gets fired up. If you ever have a look at the Pro router with a wifi analyser you will see there is a lot going on with all the bands and the hidden ssid's that you may/may not be able to see.
