Noit getting IP adress from EE hub

I have SMART sockets which I'm having difficulty connecting to the EE network.

I am trying to connect to a Compatibility N/W set to 2.4GHz only

Dealt with manufacturer's support -

As a test they got me to create a new network by using my mobile phone hotspot.

When I connect the smart product to my hotspot, it connects instantly, proving device is working.

However, when trying to connect to the EE hub it is not assigning an ip address to the device. Anybody know if there is a firewall setting or any modes I can change on the router to allow the smart device to connect without issues?

Do you have the Compatible WiFi network's Security set to WPA2?

@Memnon Can you say the make and model off the smart socket's involved?

From your other posting so questioning what you are on about now.

I was having major issues, all my devices were dropping connection, buffering, or simply not connecting. I changed them all to connect to the Compatibility network, and they connect and work .... but losing benefit of 5 or 6 GHz access.

The external (SMART sockets) were still not connecting; the workaround was to switch security on the Compatibility network to be WPA2, all now seem to connect.

The Home Tech advised there is expected to be a software update to allow ability to choose between WPA2 and WPA3 when on teh main network (2.4/5/6 GHz).

Anybody know how to put in a bug fix report to EE to get this fixed ? Both the Extender to Hub connection issue and the WPA|2 issue.

JimM11 ... there are other postings as having many issues since moving to SH7 Pro - (Wifi is very poor as per other post)

In this case, limiting the issue to being unable to connect SMART device

The device is, as per this link ... it's branded as ENERJ but these are more than likely sold under many brands; there is no marking on the device itself as to what 'make'

ENERJ has sent another that he pre-tested, same thing - fails to connect

The connection fails ... ENERJ support advise failure mode, is due to not getting an IP address from the HUB.

EE support did mention that it could be a need to open a firewall port, but nop idea what one.

As per OP above it connects straight away if I connect iPad via hotspot

Just spent an Hour with EE support; they could add nothing - I did just turn off 5 & 6GHZ on main network in case that was somehow causing interference, but it made no difference.

In OP I mention manufacturers support ....in fact to be correct it is the reseller's support - ENERJ

Socket is in the garden; the nearest access is via an Extender Pro

BT Home Tech run WiFi strength app on his phone and confirmed that there was plenty of signal strength at the Smart Device, especially as they simply turn on & off ..... no streaming of data.

I have 2 other Smart devices nearby (within 1m and they connect fine)

I looked at basic WiFi app on phone it shows 2.4GHz from my standard network is a stronger signal in garden loaction than the 2.4GHz Compatability newtrok ..... whish is not what is expected.

There are 3 Smart sockets .... when I posted that response (not this thread) the 2 of them came into life and connected .... so I assumed OK, but when I tried to pair the 3rd one last week found it won't connect.

So this thread refers solely to the 3rd socket ..... and I physically have 2 of these ENERJ sockets; neither will connect.

@Memnon Then it sounds like the brand off socket is either rubbish or just cannot connect to the Pro Extender, as you have a spare now, wire a cable on it and plug it in near the Extender and see what happens, if nothing take it to the Pro Hub and do it there also.

The ENERJ support said the fact it connects straight away to the hotspot network, proves to him fault is on extender / hub

@Memnon You have an EE Pro hub that has a specific chipset in it, there are millions off different items that are wifi wireless controlled and not everything in the world plays nicely with each other, also socket's outside off the home are just that more susceptible outside variables, i took care of all mine with a simple Tp-Link wireless/wired powerline adapter that i located 45' away from the home in the garage, a 2.4Ghz wireless N device, never had an issue, actually has a 5Ghz ssid name on it so when the wife works out in the garden her devices automatically connect and at the 2.4Ghz band she has nothing at all to do.

@Memnon This one for the wireless wifi but it is only 2.4Ghz operation, two set's in use, Ring doorbell/camera front of home, the other is in the remote garage to cover there and the back garden, the wired is the 2nd one doing the Sat comms and Nas. They are getting on abit now been in operation at least 6-7years or so. Did have to stick one unit off this in for a failure about 1 year ago, could not get the slower was stopped Tp wise but see back on sale again for the older 3rd link.

Edit:- sketch is fine you have the principal down pat. Once you have them connected you can mange then web interface when you find out the IP address, mine is http://192.168.50.22 or 23 depending on what needs to be done, door or garage.
