EE Smart Hub 7 Pro on BT internet. Plug and play?

I currently have a smart hub 2 with BT internet. If i got rid of the smart hub 2 and got a EE Smart Hub 7 Pro would everything work when i plugged it in?

@Vetrix Will be determined by the connection that you have, copper NO, Full Fibre yes for working, DV Landline you may possibly have a problem with so a backup on your BT Smart Hub 2 would be advisable to do, think restore is possible to the EE Pro hub. BT will not support you in anyway as far as they are concerned Smart Hub 2 is your baby. Setup is all going to be done to you app wise it may work EE one, for sure your MyBT app is NOT going to work with the EE Hub. Anything else you need to deal with etc.

It's likely but may not be supported by BT. Do you really need WiFi 7? WiFi 6 might be enough. The BT SH2 is only WiFi 5.

@XRaySpeX OP may be able to move up to wifi6 on the BT Smart Hub 3 that i think they are calling it, seen the Business one over in Ireland and could not make it work at all, just stuck a BT smart Hub2 and Complete Smart wifi on the FF150 connection with no issues at all. Could not even Ethernet to the BT3 version at all, would work 20 seconds then kick it's self off the connection.... Few OR engineers i found out later from the owner had never been able to make it work, wish he had told me that an hour or so earlier, saving me wasting my time on the sucker!

@Vetrix That is just not true at all, facts you have stated are all wrong, the PSTN is being withdrawn 31st Jan 2027, copper is going to be about for years to come!

Yes, that's right as far phone are concerned but both the BT SH2 & the EE SH7 Pro will provide DV.

Ahh thx, edited. Is EE better than BT? May change if so. I know they are 2 sides of the same coin since they are under 1 umbrella.

@Vetrix Had zero problems with the connection on the EE side never had BT, both the FTTC once i got it all fixed took a few months on that one and the Full Fibre never any issue. Equipment not going to say anything about that you just need to look at the Forum for guidance!

I'd expect them to be much the same. You have better control of the BT SH2 than the EE SHs with anything interesting left be done in an mobile app 😞 .
