Exactly the same here.. Just switched from BT as we were trying to sort something by phoning BT and they offered us the new WIFI 7 Pro router, WIFI 7 booster, and a newer version of the youview Bt Pro Box for all the recordings and stuff we do, plus they chopped 39 quid a month off our bill as we were paying 147 quid a month for 900mbps down full fibre, plus the sport package. So we said yes, all sorted, so we thought, the router and everything came, all plugged in connected to the ONT and since then I cannot for the life of me get the app to work, same as you, sorry come back later or we can't link right now, its just absolute useless, how it was let out to customers I don't know.. been trying everyday for a week now.. Luckily I could sign into my account and also go to the ROUTER homepage and change e erything we needed, I will say the fact I could just use the old BT SSID name and password in place of the EE one so all the devices are just recognised and we don't have to reconnect everyone was amazing, that's a bonus as I think it said there was 29 devices on there, and that's literally just 4 people in the house, PCs, laptops, tablets, phones, alexas, lights, washing machines, fridges, they add up for sure... But yeah the App, my god its honestly really annoying me now, one problem Is one person in the house has an old laptop and no matter what I do it will not see the WiFi on the list as its WPA3 security so just doesn't detect the router, works fine on ethernet, I've tried for days changing it to wpa2, setting up a guest network with wpa, using compatible WiFi mode for legacy devices, which is what that is for but still no luck, I mean I'm a nerd with tech and I cannot get it working, I was even trying to download and install drivers for discontinued intel WiFi drivers from back in 2015, but I gave up after the 3rd driver... Its a mess.. he could just get dongle or a new laptop but he shouldn't have too, it worked fine on the BT router but... That was WiFi 5 so older tech, but just won't with WiFi 7... Anyway, I spoke to them and they said they are gonna get back to me in 72 hours or something, and they havnt as of yet, but the way the app is going I can't see them solving it.. It blows my mind that the app is in this state from a company as big as EE, the BT app worked flawlessly for 10 years... so yeah it's annoying me somewhat, so hopefully they'll get my router linked and stuff soon. Coz it's a joke honestly. .

I'm thinking things like custom DNS/ad-blocking/DHCP servers etc.

For the problematic laptop, do you know what network card it's using? I've seen some old cards that outright cannot detect WiFi6 signals (and presumably anything above). No amount of tweaking in the hub would help this situation as even the Compatible WiFi network broadcasts using WiFi 6. There's some discussion here that might be worth a read.

So i literally tried so many things, comp mode in WPA2 no joy with that, tried turning off all other frequencys like the 6GHZ as we dont really need it apart from my PC but im on ethernet for that, tried only using channel 1 as it said on some forum that older laptops look for lower channels, so disabled the 6ghz and 5ghz and just tried 2.4ghz on channel 1 and 6 randomly and still didnt pick it up.. Its for sure the old wifi card just not able to pick up the router for sure, i tried with my phone and the hotspot to my 5g connection and 4g and it found that straight away... So many things tried.... i dunno, i gave up tbh, so, im now gonna use the old BT AP, the booster thaat was connected to the old BT wifi 5 router, id guess it should work right? It should just act as another booster i think, regardless of make, but well see i guess... i just feel bad as everyone else has internet apart from 1 person and as we know everything pretty much evolves round the internet honestly.. and as theres no aerial for standard tv in his room and he doesnt have a smart tv hence why he has a laptop, then yeah he cant get online but if connecting the old BT AP works then that will be great... well see...

Real pain when one device does just not like the hub wireless.

When/If you manage to get it connected, would be real helpful to know what model/driver the wifi device is in the laptop, Fired up the old AsusPro and grabbed the version, connected to the Asus XT8 Router all wifi 6.... Just double checked it's currently connected to the Asus AP although that one is wired backhaul as well....

You will see it's an old wifi4 but a reasonable able device can connect 2.4/5Ghz so have it on the 5Ghz 80Mhz wide to get the reasonable 300/300 speed and up in CH100, will be operating around the 200 mark though due to the age, and the Sata SSD that is in it.
