Does an engineer appointment prevent broadband activation.

Recently signed up for EE broadband and set the date of activation as the 12th of June. Shortly after I put in the order I got an email and text from open reach that an engineer had been booked on the 15th of June to check the ONI port and whatnot. Originally I thought that meant that my broadband would still activate on the 12th and I could plug in the router for it to work and the engineer would just come and do whatever tests he needed to do, however it's now the 13th and my router is still flashing orange as if it I do not have broadband. Do I have to wait for an engineer despite it being self install?

Do you already have the ONT modem there. Is it suitable for the BB speed you ordered?

What is the name of the EE BB plan you ordered including its speed?

I do have an ONI. Got a socket for both phone and broadband. Not sure about what kinda or speed it is. I ordered the 900 broadband with a guaranteed 700mb/s speed.

What do you mean by an "ONI"? Post a photo of it. I'm talking about an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) which is the OR modem box fixed to an inner wall to deliver Full Fibre (FTTP). As you will be having Full Fibre 900 you won't be using a socket for both phone and BB but the ONT for BB & the back of the router for phone.

I think you may have found the issue. I think I plugged my router into the phone line, of what I don't have and I don't think it would work regardless.

I have found what I believe to be the ONI however. Though I don't have a power cable for it and never received one when I moved in which might mean I need the engineer anyway.

Yes, that's an ONT. It would need to be powered before it can work. So you'll need to wait for the OR eng. to attend & supply the missing power cable as well as test the BB. You'll need a double mains power socket near that ONT.

Just to explain this fully, when an order is placed it is known an ONT is on site & if not told about any issues no engineer visit is booked. Openreach then run pre activation checks & it will have been seen it wasn't powered on hence engineer being booked
