My street has just been upgraded with ability to have fibre to the property, I have a few questions, I have been sent an email from EE telling me to upgrade, I am 6 months into a 2 year contract, if I was to take their offer, would that mean starting a new 2 year contract.

Secondary, if I do upgrade, I will be getting charged an extra £3 per month, which isn't a fortune, but I am a bit naffed off, as one of my neighbours can upgrade for free, with their current supplier who they are under contract with.

@Acelec68 It all depends on the EE offer, the upgrade may be free from the Fibre Installation side, the terms remaining may or may not be adjusted, from the 18months remaining mine sure was re-adjusted to 24Months at the time, and the Fibre to be the same cost may just be the lowest that EE offers, ie FF100 that may not suit you, if you want faster you pay for it, i did it all with EE 18months ago now, but selected the FF500 from the FTTC40/10 and Fibre 50 Essentials as it was known, paid the difference ie £29.99 to £37.99, got what i wanted and EE were happy to adjust to the higher payment. Does EE have a like for like package speed and price for you or not?

Your neighbour get's what that ISP is offering to them.

EE did confirm it all in the e-mail at time off the order upgrade request....

Yes, it would require starting a new 2 year contract, but it should be at no extra cost (at same or nearest speed).

From Full Fibre Broadband (FTTP) | Gigabit Broadband | EE :

1 Availability

Use our postcode checker to see if full fibre is available in your area. We’re rolling out full fibre across the UK, but if you can only get part fibre currently, don’t worry. We upgrade part fibre customers to full fibre when it becomes available, at no extra cost.

, I am upgrading from the old copper line to 74 MB and saving £9 a month, that is why I am doing it, as it will save me a bit of money without having a smart hub, but using the Netgear router which I already have, have spoken to EE, as they sent me a cable, not the right length, and was told do not need the EE hub, so much easier, as have everything set up already, Open Reach are coming Tuesday to set it all up, the ONT and make sure it all works, we shall see.
