topic Devices dropping off Wi-Fi over the past week (since firmware update?) in Broadband & Landline

We have EE fibre broadband with a SH32B Smart Hub router. All has been working fine until about 10 days ago. We have a range of connected devices in the household and the older devices started to drop Wi-Fi repeatedly which has got progressively worse. Highly annoying as this includes our connected heating controller !!
I have checked the hub firmware, it is r4.26.1-R-1860948-PROD-83002.
I have tried rebooting the router, even leaving it off overnight and powering in the morning. This recovers things a bit for a while then it all goes wrong again. I have even factory reset the router, no improvement.
I have tried setting up the compatibility WiFi network in the router for WPA2 devices, but this also is intermittent and range is very short, and drops out.
Newer devices that connect on 5Ghz WiFi seem OK, it is the older devices on 2.4GHz that seem to have the problem. This affects:
    Wiser central heating controller
    Samsung A12 phone
StarTech USB300WN2X2C USB-WiFi adaptor (used for a desk top PC)
Some Amazon Alexa connected light bulbs

Help, can I get the firmware reverted to the previous version so life can begin again !!! VERY annoyed about all of this, spend far too many hours trying to resolve these issues.

Compatible WiFi should be the WTG. Range should not be short on the 2.4 GHz band.

So far reports have been fine linked the post below.

Hi,
I changed the 2.4GHz channel setting from smart to channel 1 and seems to be a lot better, thank you !
It is not perfect and I am still keeping an eye on it, the central heating controller is back online but the StarTech USB300WN2X2C dongle is still not working reliably so I have reverted to a long ethernet cable in the short term and will keep trying try to resolve it.
Thanks again

Hi,

Changing the 2.4GHz channel from smart to fixed on Ch1 has fixed the problem. Everything seems to be back working

Thanks !!!!!
