topic How do I stop smart devices connecting to wifi extender? in Broadband & Landline

I've recently got a Wifi Extender to help with connectivity upstairs in my house. This has worked great for computers/phones however since it's been on, I'm having trouble with my smart doorbell and a smart plug (both Tapo) connecting to the extender rather than the main hub. This ends up making both the devices stop working as they are downstairs and obviously have a weaker connection. I've tried reconnecting both to the main hub but they end up reverting to the Wifi Extender.

I've tried to go through my hub manager but can't see any way to stop or block the devices from connecting to the Wifi Extender, nor in the app. Any ideas how I could stop this? TIA

Older or weaker devices may not be compatible with the default WiFi settings of EE Smart Hubs. Try setting up Compatible WiFi on the router under Advanced > Wireless Settings > Config > Compatible WiFi (it defaults to 2.4 GHz & WPA2) & connect your problematic 2.4 GHz devices to that.

@emmao2 The EE Hubs/Extenders do NOT have the ability to chain link fence to device attachment so devices go were they want and work comfortable on, there is just nothing you can do to steer the devices to what you think is the best, compatible may help but you need to try and see, similar that the Hub/Extenders both get all the ssid's so you may just end up the same way, give it a go though!
