Signing Up to EE is off putting

I’m currently with Sky with a termination fee. I had been looking for the best deal and who would cover the termination fee.

initally I thought about moving to Virgin, however due to online gaming in our house, apparently you can experience high latency. Which in turn doesn’t help with lag.

i’d seen EEs 1.6 gig offer and initially was put off by the £47 cost. I then saw through uswitch, you can get it for £34 a month. Plus EE will cover the termination fee.

so I do a little reading up on EE and I’ve seen the nightmare of getting a refund of the termination fee. So I spoke to someone in the online chat, they start noting the cost of £47, I explained about doing it through uswitch and that guy clearly didn’t want anything else to do with me. Although they said about the switching team refining the amount, they didn’t put my mind at ease. They also said if anything goes wrong initially they couldn’t help. Ok so that’s off putting.

now I’ve had a call from EEs sales team, they noted I had looked at the broadband offers, as soon as I mention uswitch, you would think I was a leper. Same spiel, any problems we can’t help on set up. He did offer the service for £42, however I’m still saving doing it online.

i was looking forward to joining EE, but now im rethinking. The whole thing is off putting. I appeciate they can’t match the cost, but if I’m a new customer., they should welcome the business not push it away.

Even if you do it thro' uSwitch it still swings you over to the EE BB Deals page but with reduced prices against the normal new customer prices. Thus you are still ordering direct from EE as a referral. So I can't see how EE can possibly discriminate against you. You would be in contract directly with EE with your normal rights.

EE will pay up to £300 of your Early Cancellation Fees upon sight of your previous ISP's bill showing them. You can claim this online @ Switch Broadband to EE and we'll pay your leaving fee. It will be applied as a credit to your EE bill but you can then ask CS to refund it directly to your preferred method of payment..

@XMidniterX I have just had a look online as EE Full Fibre has recently become available in my area. On the EE Website 1.6Gb Premium is available for £33.99/m or £57.99 for the Ultimate product, no need to go through Uswitch.

Details of the Switch Offer can be found here https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/early-cancellation-credit as long as you follow the steps there is no reason for the offer not to go through.

i said the same to the guy, however he made it sound like any issues weren’t gonna be addressed on EEs part if it happened. Really off putting.

I’ve just rechecked there main website it’s shows as £47 a month. Which they guy in sales and via the chat both confirmed. I can only get the reduced price via a uswitch link.

@Mustrum : Not for me! 1.6Gb Premium is available for £47.99/m or £71.99 for the Ultimate product. It would appear that OP has every need to go through Uswitch.

@XRaySpeX no, not sure why they need to go through Uswitch. OP like me is a new customer, not an existing one like you/ So much for Ofcom saying existing customers should be getting the same as new ones.

I tried both ways, as a new cust & as an existing cust and I was given the same quoted prices.
I thought you were an existing cust, just not for FF.

I’m a new customer and did some hunting as sick of the sky price hikes. My termination cost is £90, which is under the £300 mark, however as noted I’ve seen a lot of message and feedback about people struggling to get there money back.

I’m of two minds now to take the service and pray my termination cost is covered. I do want to move away from sky. I could wait till September and just go with bt but it feels like a hell of a wait. I’m done with Sky.
