Copper Based Network Retirement Jan 2027

Hi All,

When the above happens if you live in a very rural area which has no fibre and you rely on your WiFi for everything what happens when they switch it off? There are no plans for fibre to be put in. We have no phone signal or mobile data either. Our TV runs off WiFi. What are our options here? We can't afford the thousands it costs to have our own line put in.

There may be! Depends which Fibre you're referring to. There's Fibre & Fibre; partial Fibre with copper to the home (FTTC) or Full Fibre (FTTP). Do you have the former FTTC or maybe you only have ADSL? To help find out ..

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker > Address Checker estimate for your address? Post the whole table, the text below it and the line above it, blanking out your address.

When the copper based phone network is shutdown next year it's the copper telephone network that's going. There will still be BB based on FTTC, Fibre to the cabinet & copper there after to the home.

Well, I'd much rather have seen the BTw Checker I requested. It actually tells you what ISPs can actually sell today, not just what OR is planning.

Anyway it looks like you can probably get partial Fibre (FTTC) there possibly with digital landline, maybe!

Sadly I have no access to the information required to use the link you sent. I have no landline number and the other info is not on my bill etc.

You don't use a landline no. You choose the Address Checker at the tab at the top & you know your own addy.
