They show number only on the recent calls list. As I understand it If they have a Caller ID they would be in my contacts list and and the call would come straght through as indeed they are doing.

Recently transferred from Plusnet to EE to retain landline for digital switchover. All was working ok until I have just discovered that anyone calling me and not in my contacts list is unable to get through. After stating their name and pressing hash key as instructed by the phone message nothing happens and they are cut off without my phone ringing to accept or refuse the announced call. This feature worked ok prior to the changeover. Have reset the phone base station, deleted my mobile number from contacts and then called in to test with the same result. Can anyone suggest a solution please or even an opinion on whether the fault lies with my phone or the EE connection?

Are these callers showing their Caller ID or is it just a mixture of some do & some don't?

But what if they called you with a Caller ID but weren't on your contacts list? For instance if I were to call you I wouldn't be in your contacts list as you don't know me from Adam.

Have you checked the call protect settings on your EE account as one of the options that is automatically enabled is unknown numbers which may be blocked. If only verified callers per your blocker are the only ones accepted then the EE blocker may well be classing all other calls as unknown.

Perhaps I didn't explain fully. Any numbers not in my contact list will be intercepted by call blocker before my phone rings. Caller is asked to give name then press hash key. At that point my phone then rings and announcement left by caller is repeated. I can then accept the call, reject or send to answer phone. The problem I have is that when caller provides name and presses hash key nothing else happens and caller is again asked for name and told to press hash key again but is finally cut off without any call coming through to my phone. There is no problem with callers whose number is in my contacts list, they come straight through.

Thank you. Call protect settings are ticked for calls identified as unwanted and calls unknown. I unticked both and it confirmed changes saved. However returning to the same screen later the original settings had returned. Can you advise me please how these can be changed permanantly?

As further background info I have deleted my own mobile from my landline phone to test the system. When I call in I get a message that my call is being monitored by BT call blocker and I need to announce myself and press hash to connect. The call didn't come through as described in above posts. However if the caller has reached the BT blocker which is in the phone base station connected to the EE hub this seems to indicate that it is not the EE hub blocking the unknown number in the first place. Whilst I have done a reset for the BT base station this hasn't helped but it is possible to do a fulller procedure which deletes all data etc. I am trying to avoid this unless absolutely neccessary because it involves reinputting all contacts and resetting other controls etc. I would appreciate any other help anyone can offer. Thanks.

@Phillbot I checked my settings to find the same thing happened with me. Have rung EE about it and they confirmed that the setting I had changed was showing on their system as being changed. The issue is to be raised with a manager to be referred to whomever deals with it as it shouldn't happen and it seems you can't then change it back unless you contact EE.

Many thanks, I will try phone contact as well in a few days so that I can check whether my preferences have changed and if that will solve my problem. Will update my post when I have a response.
