The extenders will only display a continuous aqua light whilst connected by ethanet cable directly to the hub. Trust me, the hub has been rebooted, the hub has been reset. The extender have been reset numerous times. Attempts to connect the extenders to the hub have been tried every which way - initially in a straight line only 6ft from the router/hub, the best result flashing amber over a couple of days. Instant solid aqua connecting extender to directly to the hub, leave for a few hours, relocate to the exact position of extenders from my previous hub, green flashing light then amber flashing light. The moral of the story is, if it ain’t broke don’t allow EE to fix it! ( ie be talked into an upgrade when everything was working ok). I’m so bored with it now. I’ve spent hours on the phone with the teccies and an engineer called. My work around is to use my phone as a hotspot as I have unlimited data. BUT, thanks for trying 👍

I can link the extender to the hub with no issues, but as soon as I unplug it to move it to where I hope it will live, it seems to loose it memory of the connection.

I live on a farm so I want to locate the extender high up in one of our barns so I get wifi coverage around a lot of our main site, but it is no use to me if I need to reset it and press the wps button every time we get a small drop in power, the BT disc that I had there previously, if it was turned off for a week would remember the connection details, and connect again as soon as it was turned back on.

It also means that I cant set the extender up in the house and walk around the farm plugging it in, in various locations until I find a spot where it shows good signal, as it loses connection details every time it is unplugged, and when I try to link it I dont know if it's out of range or just memory lose.

Is this normal for this extender or do I have a faulty unit?

Sounds like you are just to far away from the wifi signal, the units rely on the 6Ghz backhaul which does not travel anyway near as far as the older units.

After you asking that, I thought I would try again, I linked the extender to the hub, they are in the same room about 2m apart, they linked up and all seemed good, I turned the extender off for about 5 mins and then turned it back on and it is just back to flashing orange, no conection.

I can understand a difference in range, but it is the lack of remembering the connection details that makes me question the unit.

The wifi 7 Hub/Smart Wireless when not pairing again has been suggested that resetting the hub by just power off/on once the Extender is up may work better for the connection, give it a try if you can.

Before this I was with BT.

I have connected the extender to the hub again, turned the hub off for 20mins, turned the hub back on and the extender connected again no issues, the app then said the hub/extender was doing an update, and it could take an hour, this morning when I got up all looked happy, so I unplugged the extender while I had breakfast, plugged it in again afterwards, (20mins), and the extender failed to connect, still in the same location as it had been in all night.

I feel there should be some kind of backup battery in the extender that would allow it to keep its setting in the event of a power failure, and it is either faulty or just not there.

Is there anyone with this new hub and extender combo, that could just turn off the extender for 20-30 mins and then back on, just to see if there's reconnects automatically, or if they have to go through the hole set up procedure again, just to see if it's normal or if I have a faulty unit?

I’ve had problems with the Pro 7 hub and WiFi extenders. I’ve wasted much of my life over the last 3 days trying to connect the extenders myself, on the phone to EE teccies plus a home visit from an engineer. Following another long call with EE teccies today they have decided that as they can’t troubleshoot the extenders they will send replacement WiFi extenders.

I decided to see what would happen, if I just turned the extender on and left it alone for a longer period of time, so I left it plugged in, in the same room with the hub as before, and went and did something else. I came back a couple of hours later and miraculously, it had gone green and connected it's self.

So with this new found hope, I turned it off and took it to where I hoped would be it's new premiant location, ran the cable to the power point and left it alone, again it actually found the signal and has been running ok for the last couple of days.

I am sorry that you've had the same problem with multiple routers and extenders.

I'd recommend giving our tech guides a call so they can look into this further for you. You can also ask them to open a complaint to keep a record of this until it is resolved for you.

I’m having exactly the same problems, signal with extenders reached the bottom of the garden some distance away and now barely beyond the back door. EE have sent new extenders, I left Ethernet cable in for a full day then moved the extenders to where the extenders with my previous router had been 4 days later they’re still flashing aqua. Did you ever find a resolution?

EE sent me replacement WiFi extenders and the problem is the same. As, like you, I have a life to lead the new extenders have been flashing aqua for 4 days now. Do we have a valid complaint to say that this new equipment is not fit for purpose?

HI @Maggieknockater

Is your extended losing connection while in it's place, or only when you move the extender?

If your extender is too far away from the router, the connection will drop, especially if there is signal interreference from other devices or equipment nearby.

I'd recommend having a look at Getting started with your EE WiFi Extender page which has very helpful information in finding the optimal position for your extenders.

Ali
