Hi, sorry to hijack your post but I wondered if you have managed to get it resolved. I too had a pixel 8 pro and was having issues from day one of the EE broadband with the same router and 1 hub. I have had it about a month and have also brought a pixel 10 pro xl and I'm having the same problem. My wife is sat next to me with a pixel 6a and has no issues what so ever. Not impressed at all

Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 owners here ... yep, I had to create a separate 2.4GHz network because the 5GHz Wifi SSID keeps failing over incorrect password (requiring complete WiFi "forget" + from scratch password re-entry).

Sad to hear that the Pixel 10 Pro XL is affected too!!!! 😞

This is sounding very familiar - I've upgraded from the Pixel 8 Pro to the 10 Pro xl and I'm still having issues with the new phone losing connection to the wifi 7 router just like the 8 Pro. I hoped that this would be fixed for the newer phone.

Hi,

So just got home. I am on the Essentials Full Fibre Gigabit package. I have the Smart Hub Pro with one extender. A speed test at the hub is giving me 900+ down and around 90 up. I've just done a test on my phone and I'm getting 180 down and 22 up. I am jn the next room from the main router.

When it starts playing up I could be browsing, watching YouTube, pretty much anything. The phone will show as connected but with no internet. If I fully restart my phone or the network settings I will get internet back but it is slow. If I fully restart the router it then seems all ok. I have had to restart the router everyday since we have had it because of this issue. My wife, who sits next to me is on her 6a with no issues. The firetv stick is also steaming fine while this is going on. If I log into my Samsung tablet I also still have internet. In fact everything else ok the house from cameras, Sonos, thermostat etc are all connected and ok.

I have a funny feeling it is to do with the WiFi 7 as all of the other devices are not WiFi 7 compatible yet my Pixel 10 and previous pixel 8 pro are and it is those 2 that are having issues. I don't want to downgrade from WiFi 7 as I have just come from a Google mesh system on WiFi 5 so I was looking forward to the extra speed and range into my garden.

Hopefully the above is enough but if not then let me know 🙂

Yes that was the problem with the 8 Pro, I'd read something about it not being able to fully cope with the frequencies of wifi 7. The pixel 10 pro xl must have a similar modem. My old Samsung Galaxy Tab s6 works just fine using wifi 5

I have had a few similar issues with Samsung phones and the Smart Hub Pro WiFi and it seems to have far less issues when using the phones MAC address rather than a randomised MAC address on the WiFi connection. I assume you can set this in the settings on the Google phone for your WiFi7 network.

On a Samsung and I would assume a Google is very similar:

Settings-Connections-WiFi

Then select the settings for your connected WiFi network, it will look like a cog-wheel icon. At the bottom you will see "view more", select this and scroll down the page until you see "MAC address type", you will have two options of "Randomised MAC " or "Phone MAC", select "Phone MAC". For me this improved the connecting.

This is a setting per network and Randomised MAC offers greater privacy but privacy is not usually a major concern on your own home network.
