Hi, Just had EE broadband 900MBPS installed with Smarthub 7 plus and mostly working fine. All except a Moto G60s phone on Android 12 (newest it can run) that can't see the wifi network and obviously cannot connect to it. Also, no other local networks show up as available, that is until I turn off the wifi on the router and reboot the phone. Then all the local networks are shown - until I turn on the router wifi and then all the networks are gone and the phone becomes unresponsive and sometimes goes into a boot loop. I have connected to another network at another location and all works fine (not EE). I have reset wifi on the phone, reset everything to factory, tried turning off some bands of wifi, but it still seems to destroy the phone wifi capability when EE wifi is turned on. Also configured my old router as an access point and it connects, but no use as when EE wifi is back on the network is no longer visible. A much older Moto G7 connects fine as do several other phones and all of my other devices. There is clearly something not happening with the flavour of wifi being output, but I would like to know if it can be resolved or if the phone has to be replaced.

Anthony input on the cause and possible fixes welcome. Thanks.

Try setting up Compatible WiFi on the router under Advanced > Wireless Settings (it defaults to 2.4 GHz) & connect your problematic 2.4 GHz devices to that.

Thanks for the reply, I tried that but didn't work. I can't see a way to turn off the main wifi but leave the comp wifi active. I turned off 5ghz but still no joy. It is odd it seems to block all other networks so they don't even show up in a list on the phone.

Enable the Comp network with another device that is connected and working, better still do it via the Web Interface and an Ethernet connection to that Hub, http://192.168.1.254

Comms

WLAN

Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct

I'll try again, but my much older Moto G7plus works fine on the wifi - as does a Pixel 7a and many other newer and older Macs. This Phone is only 4 years old - not 5g but pretty new compared to other devices I have.

What I don't understand is why it seems to block all the other networks around me when wifi on the router is on.

It's your phone as everything else is working, unless you can try some options on the phone wireless settings before you start it all for connection!

I have tried all of the options and still no joy. Even with only 2.5ghz network on it isn't seen by the phone and all other networks are not displayed. Phone is currently in a boot-loop and needs a forced power off to stop. Odd that a wifi signal seems able to cause so much mayhem. Thanks for the tips, but not sure there is much I can do with this.

I would tend to agree and my first thought were that it was faulty, but if I don't try to connect to wifi it seems to run just fine. That's why I tested on another network and it appeared to function as expected with no issues in locating and connecting a network. I will monitor it to see if it works OK without using the wifi - it isn't my daily phone but I will see how it goes. I do think it is using more battery than it should which may also be a bad sign. I appreciate the help. Thanks.

I know it's been nearly three months, but I've also run into the same problem.

For whatever reason, when the G60S scans for wireless networks with the Smart Hub 7 Plus powered, it crashes the wifi handling of the 'phone. Anything relying on wifi connections therefore also falls over - even the built-in diagnostics app (Device Help) crashes. However, as soon as the Hub is switched off and the 'phone reboots, it has no issues at all.

I've tried running the Hub WPA3 in compatibility and transition mode, and with each band enabled separately or together. Enabling the compatibility wifi doesn't seem to help as I imagine it's still tripping up finding the main wifi network during a scan. And to be clear, the failure is during a scan - the 'phone hasn't got credentials saved manually to attempt connection yet. Trying to add the network manually doesn't appear to change anything though.

Weirdly we have issues with a Pixel 9A too, where it fails to connect to the 5GHz band even though it's capable of doing so. My Pixel 7 and PC have no issues, so personally I'm alright, but I think my women-folk are going to get restless...!

HI, I had tried using 2.4ghz, 5ghz and compatible mode, but none of them allow the phone to connect. Given the age of the phone I would be better off replacing it than buying a new router, when the only thing having an issue is the phone. I have left wifi off for a few weeks now and the battery use seems normal, so I have left it alone while it is working enough.
