At present I use PlusNet broadband over a standard landline which will be a problem when things change in the future.

I am looking into going to an EE Broadband with Digital Home Phone deals for Plusnet customers.

Which (I assume) includes a Broadband Router and a connected phone handset.

I have a number of questions:

a) Will the new EE Broadband Router provide local WIFI at the standard 2.4GHz and 5GHz?

I have 2 PC’s using 5GHz. 1 PC using 2,4Ghz, 1 printer on 2.4Ghz and (when active) my Mobile SmartPhone on 2.4Ghz.

b) I assume there is a phone handset supplied with/on the EE Router

c) If I also obtain an ee_home_phone_adapter_ug_v4 can I plug my present BT/Landline phone combination into this and will it work. At present my landline is directly connected to 5 off cordless phones and one off main cordless phone + local transmitter and connection point of the landline.

d) What will happen to my present landline telephone number if we implement this and what will be the new EE Broadband with Digital Home Phone number.

Ideally I would like to keep/re-use my present Telephone Number as all of our contacts are already aware of this number – this is a 5 digit Area Code and 7 digit phone number,

Regards

Richard ******

Routers are either WiFi6 or WiFi7.

No.You won't get a phone handset with your BB unless you buy 1. Your existing phones should work with DV.

You may connect your existing base stations into the back of the router or ATA adapters. The latter you can get from EE. What's a "local transmitter"?

You keep your existing landline no. as long as you tell EE you are bringing it over. Your local contacts will need to now include the local area code with DV.

What flavour of BB do you currently have with PN?

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker > Address Checker estimate for your address? Post the whole table, the text below it and the line above it, blanking out your address.

I may have labelled things incorrectly here - my home phone system involves the BT 8500 Advanced Call Blocker + Digital Cordless Phone with Answering Machine - I do not use the Answering Machine part - but the call blocking was the main advantage here due to many SPAM like incoming calls. Here we are talking about a cluster of DECT phones interconnected wirelessly around the house with the Master or Base Station (I called it the transmitter) connected to a single incoming phone line - all handsets are wireless to their PSU/battery charging base and of course I do not need a telephone extension wire link anywhere in the house. and all phones ring together and any one can accept an incoming call or make one. Due to the Call Blocker bit only calls from pre-loaded numbers actually cause a 'audible ring' without the caller taking further actions so this is ideal for blocking spam/unwanted calls.

I tried the BT Wholesale thing, but could not easily post the whole table here.

I did manage to check that my BT 8500 be OK with an EE Home Phone Adapter - so should not need an additional 'local handset' connected to the Router.

The type of Broadband I have with PlusNet is (I think only partly) full fibre and up to 72Mbts incoming/18Mbts outgoing if that makes any sense.

Thanks for your help so far!

You could also re-inject your existing phone wiring from the back of the router & continue to use your existing phone sockets.

As you are on a FTTC copper connection for the delivery off the Broadband, it is just easier to have the BT 8500 cable connect into the back of the EE Hub for the DV side, the DVA has some quirks so not all functions may work, it's a try one and see.
