End of contract

My end of contract is today...

I've tried to cancel my contract today, and I've been informed I can't because I've got a new one until next year.

Yes I'm lax and last minute but you should still be able to cancel your contract on the last day

EE's mobile contracts are not fixed-term ones that end on a date, the natural consequence of that would be every phone going "out of contract" being automatically disconnected. The complaint volumes would be horrendous.

What you have is a rolling contract that needs 30days notice to cancel, but has a minimum-term of (normally) 2 years. In order to disconnect on the 2year date, you can give 30days notice 30days prior.

The only reason you would have "a new one until next year" is if you've upgraded to a new phone, or changed payment plans and - in doing so - taken a new minimum-term.

I'm broadband, and a customer service person is saying that I've gone into a new contract which ends 26/3/27 ... I just want to cancel my broadband as I'm moving house.

This is ridiculous I've just got another email to say I should lock in an upgrade for my contract

If you have a contract it'll be offering you anew 24m contract with no price increase this year. Not ridiculous & totally optional.

Sounds like you took out a 24m broadband contract last year, why not ask about moving it to the new address & avoiding cancellation fees?
