Hello friends,

Hoping someone can help me out here?

We recently had our skybroadband replaced with EE fast fibre 300 (or whatever its called).

It had initially been working well the first couple of days with all devices over the WiFi, however, day by day things keep getting disconnected (SKY Q box, smart tvs, tablets) and would reconnect a day or a few hours laster after resetting the device or hub or after reinserting the password into the devices.

Now it's starting to affect my xbox, which i cant have!!!. It usually works just fine with WiFi with no need to an ethernet cable before todays disconnection. So I reset the router and xbox and it connected fine again. I D
did matchmaking for an hour or so then went about my day. Then came back later and the same issue...not connecting, despite all the test etc...

I beleive the problem may be the router settings and all the stuff about 2.4ghz or 5ghz or compatible WiFi etc. See photos.

So my questions is, has anyone ran into a similar problem and can you tell me the fix that doesn't require resetting the hub or devices everytime?

Thanks in advance.

Try setting up Compatible WiFi on the router under Advanced > Wireless Settings & connect your problematic 2.4 GHz devices to that.

Your devices may be connected to the 2.4 GHz band on the Main network but with a unsuitable Security Type, WPA3. By connecting them to the 2.4 GHz band on the Compatible network they will take on a more suitable Security Type, WPA2.

So i did this and now nothing is connecting.

@JimM11. I was just on the phone to the EE guys and went through all the troubleshooting and they didn't mention anything about what you suggested. They instead said the hub is likely to be faulty and are sending a new one out. I highly doubt its the hub itself though and its like you said, must be some of the settings, as its been working fine on my my xbox throughout until today. The other stuff was a bit more in and out.

He also said about the hub being AI etc etc and its learning all the time and its maybe not liking one of my devices. Felt like it was another fob off to be honest.

If this continues I think im going to go back to the slower sky

Yeah, exactly that.

Went and enabled the compatibility mode, then a new network was visible with the same network name, just ending on Comp like you said.

Disconnected my phone from the previous network, then reconnected to the comp one. Did this with 2 devices... resulted in "connected without internet" even waited 10 min then unplugged the router aswell. Still nothing.

Yeah thats the one we got. But i reckon they're just going to send the same one to be honest which doesnt come until tuesday.

We work from home though so not having WiFi tomorrow means its going to be a bit of an issue. I can dig out an ethernet cable, but they should really compensate for this...

I did ask and they said no. We'll see where it goes. Thanks for trying though.

@UniqNo You have the EE Smart Hub 7 Plus then from your rely, are you also using any form of EE Smart wireless, or have the sky Q wireless boosting turned on at the same time, if you look at the ssid from the EE Hub, do you see the name and also a EE WiFi at the same time?

Just had to do a quick check so if your sky Q is on and wireless connected, turn it off, do you also have any sky Q mini's in use if so same for them?

Why do you think that sky is slower, i have the FF500 with them and hit 500/70Mb/s no problems and virtually every time so no idea why you have that idea in your head, i even do 2.2Gb/s internal over the network and that's not even close as no wifi 7 devices at all.
