Hi guys,

All up and running, however i am using my Netgear RS300 router and i have found the log in details to connect to the internet.

Trouble i am having is the lack of IPV6 for some reason.

IPV6 is set up to on the Netgear to connect via PPPoe and to use the same login details as IPV4 which is what worked on the previous provider but i am not getting an IP from EE.

Anything else i should be doing?

Cheers!

Thanks, yes i have been trying all the various connection methods and nothing seems to work!

I would stick to the supplied unit but one is quite limited on changing any settings, DNS etc which i can change on the Netgear.

What i did notice was that IPV6 only uses IPV4 to resolve on the supplied unit and i am thinking it would work fully on the Netgear.

Thanks.

Well, i have just plugged it back in and redid the settings and it seems to be working now but it shows no IPV6 DNS servers?

Is this because it actually resolves using the IPV4 DNS?

I guess i could try manually using Cloudfare ipv6 servers?

Hi all.

Relative newbie here but in a similar situation.

The short story is I've recently migrated over from BT FF150 to EE FF500. The downside of that migration is that you're not considered a new customer so I was not offered a free upgrade from the WiFi 5 Smart Hub.

Rather than effectively renting a Smart Hub 7 Plus/Pro, or buying a 'potentially grey' one from any auction sites or retailers, I decided to buy my own router and settled on the Netgear Nighthawk RS300 which I found for a very reasonable price over the festive period.

I did swap out routers for a day or so to have a play, update firmware etc, but reverted back to to the Smart Hub due to personal choice and circumstances. All was fine with the RS300 connection and configuration apart from the IPv6 side.

Although I'm not an IT expert by any stretch of the imagination, my engineering background means the technical side doesn't faze me and I like to gain knowledge.

I've already looked at the usual Netgear sites etc for guidance, but they tend to be generic information rather than specific to EE/BT. Any help on settings would be appreciated before I decide to swap out routers on a more permanent basis.

Thanks to the several contributors so far.

In the end, i set it to...

same PPPoE login as IPV4,

manually set your own IPV6 DNS servers (I used cloudfare) as for some reason BT resolve IPv6 queries through IPV4, which seems pointless you can't actually change that setting on the Superhub.

LAN set up as Autoconfig.

And then, as suggested test it using

https://whatismyipaddress.com/

Not sure if this helps, but some of us on the Busiest Home Bundle who went through the routergate problems did experiment on going down the own router bundle.

This is what I had to do for the TP Link router i was testing at the time to get it to work. Hopefully might help someone else out there.

Note this picture is over a year old so has no bearing on my current connection or IP.
