EE Smart Hub Pro 7 SH35A LED Power Light.

Just a quickie.
When I powered on my new EE Smart Hub Pro 7 SH35A for the first time yesterday morning, I thought it was dead because the power indicator light between the power switch and USB-C socket didn't light up. I then tried the power supply from my eero router and it did go green but, but bizarrely wouldn't connect to the ONT. At this point, I wasn't aware of the info LED showing the status of the connection. My bad, typically I hadn't read the instructions and jumped to a conclusion.
I then reconnected the OE power cable; there was no green power LED, but it did connect to the ONT and the info LED turned blue.

My question is, should the power LED be lit?

An SH35A is a Smart Hub Plus 7.
What USB-C socket? The router power supply plugs into a ~~round~~ oblong co-axial socket. The USB socket is only for charging other devices.

@Paullus1959 You will need one off your fellow user's with that version off EE Router to either respond or you just need to call EE CS to find out, as far as it is, lights on the front lit, unit is powered!

Yes, it should start off Green & then Orange Flashing until hopefully it should end up Aqua when connected to the BB.

Sorry, my mistake, it is actually the latest Smart Hub 7 Plus SH35A, and it does have a USB C power supply instead of the round barrel type found on earlier models.

The power light I'm referring to is located between the grey circular power button and the USB C socket.

Yes, that LED light should be ON when the Power is turned ON. If it doesn't, that router must be faulty. Sorry, previously I was thinking of the figure '8' light on the front.

Thanks for visiting the EE Community

After speaking to our hub team they have confirmed the small LED on the rear of the new Smart Hub 7 Plus is not supposed to be illuminated under normal operation.

It is intended as a warning of sorts should somebody connect a third-party PSU that provides insufficient power. In this scenario, it lights up red.

We do not recommend the use of third-party power supplies.

So expect your new hub to behave the same way as the one it has replaced, as that light not being on is completely normal.

Hi Alex.
Thank you for clearing that up Alex.
However, it's clearly not common knowledge. After speaking to the EE Faults Team about this issue, I received a replacement router, which was no different; the power LED didn't illuminate. I didn't configure the router, I contacted the Faults Team, and I'm returning the new one, unused.
It's the first ever router I've used, and I've had many over the years, which doesn't have a power light.
Having said that, when I plugged the power adapter from my previous EERO 6 Pro, the LED in fact turned green, but wouldn't connect to the internet. When I plugged the lower power adapter from an EERO 6, it shone red.
Anyway, it's resolved, and what I thought was an issue turned out not to be.
Happy days.

@Paullus1959 Are you saying that the Indicator above the power connector has an additional state from your posting that is not mentioned by either the EE Faults tech team and @Alex_H has said.

1. No Light it is good to go, correct power suooly is used.

2. Red lit, there is a faulty PSU applied.

3. Green lit, there is a faulty PSU applied? This is the one only you mention as from above and not EE!

@Paullus1959 - this is probably the first of many EE hub's over the years that even has a dedicated power LED. It's normally left to the multi-purpose LED on the front of the unit.

I too am intererested in the answer to @JimM11's question. Are you saying the LED on the rear of the hub went green?

This is the first EE device I've owned.
The description of what occurred with the LED lights is in my original post and in my reply to Alex-H on 11/02.
I didn't imagine it or make it up.

The replacement router is on its way back to EE now, as the original is working as designed.

@Paullus1959 Nobody is saying that you did, you are probably going to more useful then getting the squared away answer as EE has coughed up to 1, No light and 2, Red light.... And as you have posted tech support was as much use as a chocolate teapot in front off the chocolate fireguard with there lack of anything at all!

So as you have everything to hand you are without doubt the correct person to ask....

Thoughts go this way, and you may if possible look at all the PSU units the 2 from your EERO Gear and the One from the EE, they may perhaps have on the units, rated output voltage/current/power etc as USB by default can be multi voltage/current devices in the USB C range!!!

Going for me, Overvoltage too High Green LED Router will not work, Undervoltage too low Red LED Router will not work,

and Correct voltage No LED Router works as expected! First two Red/Green may require to be flipped who knows?

@XRaySpeX As @Alex_H has so kindly pointed out it is not a Power Indicator but a Power warning/failure indicator off sort's with the two states that he has been told about, Not Lit and Red, the Green one is the curve ball as off present!

Yes & a warning is conventionally Red, not Green!

It makes no sense what has been said here previously about the states & colours of this light.
