I recently had EE Full Fibre installed. All went smoothly and quickly, very happy with that part.

I have been using an Asus DSL-AX82U as my DSL router for 2 or more years and have lots of settings just the way I want. I also have 26 devices connected, many of which have reserved IP Addresses, which include an AiMesh newrork, WiFi switches (loads), 3 Alexas, 2 TVs, and the list goes on. So all in all I didn't want to have to try and set all that up on the EE Hub. I have read lots of forums etc. to check that I can just connect the Asus to the EE Hub using the EE Hub just as the modem and the connection for the home phone.

Having spent some hours trying all the advice I've found online - all of which were giving the WRONG settings, so it didn't work. Finally I found the answer by resetting the Asus and letting it create it's own settings so I could see what they should be. Then I restored the Asus with a settings backup (remember to do that before starting any of this if you're going to try it!) and then changed the settings to match.

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the process and settings:

Take a settings backup on the Asus
Connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the ee Hub to the WAN port of the Asus
Go into the router manager and go to the WAN section:
Set WAN type to WAN (if you can't change it then go into the Dual WAN section and change it there, do not turn on Dual WAN unless you need it, then return to the WAN section)
Select Edit PVC and use these settings
     WAN connection type: Automatic IP
    In 802.1Q
        Enable: NO
        VLAN ID: Blank or 0
        802.1P: Blank or 0

Reboot the Asus

And ... drum roll ... IT WORKS!!!!!

All the other places I've found information about this say to Enable 802.1Q and set VLAN ID to 101. THESE SETTINGS DO NOT WORK. Mine do.

Then you can go into the router manager of the EE Hub and turn off the WiFi to avoid devices not knowing which network it should connect to.

Hope that helps someone and good luck.

There is another for this, in fact the driving reason behind this. 802.1Q and VLAN ID are modem settings. When used for FTTP the router is not providing the modem. The ONT is the modem & is taking care of that side of things.

Thanks for the info. That makes perfect sense. It's just that everywhere else I found the settings for using the EE Hub as just a modem said the 802.1Q should be enabled and VLAN ID should be 101 which did not work.

Useful information for everyone. Thanks again.
