The old router only needs to be powered on. It should not be connected to the BB. It's the EE router that does so it can be paired & setup by the app.

Is there an easy way to keep all my settings when changing from a BT smart hub 2 to an EE hub 6 plus?

Or do have to setup a new WiFi and connect all devices back to it again?

The WiFi SSID is BT{numbers), so I'm not bothered on SSID name, but would rather not have to go through whole house to reconnect everything again if possible. Or shall actually start again afresh?

Also I'm reading the 6 plus has better WiFi, as in different standard. Will my devices just autoconnect to the new SSID somehow?

You change the ssid you are going to have to start from scratch with every single device on your home network there is no other way if you change the hub ssid! So you never ever factory reset that new router, if you do then the card info is what it will return to by default!

Yes, it's an option to keep your existing router settings when you pair your EE router with the EE app & the old router is still powered on.

Whilst devices still need to carry support for these features, they don't have to be WiFi 6.

My wifi 5 (160Mhz) Laptop operates happily on a wifi6 AP Asus 160Mhz channel as it supports that width no issues!

Environment-dependent as it requires the clearance of DFS channels, but that's no different to how the Asus will be operating. Odd that you never saw it.

Well it's not working....

Plugged in new with ethernet to modem, solid turquoise, old hub just plugged into power

Go into EE app, goto WiFi controls, scan QR on new and just says can't connect. It has the pic of old hub as well

Tried numerous times, restart router, app, phone etc and won't pair either scanning QR or manually entering details.

Delayed EE app, reinstalled still the same

Internet is working as I've connected my phone to the hub fine.

Is the settings change literally just the old SSID and password needed? As if so I'll try and change it manually in the hub manager page

Just left password for admin on router, but just changed the SSID and password to same as original router and I think everything's connected ok.

TV is back on EE internet channels working again, so it's auto connected.

However the EE app won't pair still. I'll maybe try tomorrow in case it gets a firmware update maybe. Is there a way to know what latest firmware is for 6 plus, sonic can compare on settings?

Ok, I'm on latest now it downloaded after about an hour.

However I can connect hub in EE app. Goto Manage>broadband>WiFi controls, shows pic of old hub, and just won't connect via QR or manual.

Anything I can do for this?
