Morning guys,

now we have had openreach get the road all fibred up we are now ready to order.

We currently Have Trooli who use their own fibre, so the question is, will EE pull a new fibre in leafving the Trooli one in place?

We also have the ONT in a remote building so all we have in the house is the router and not in the house so hopefully the EE guys will take the same route!

Also, can we use our own router or are we stuck we the one provided by EE as i am currently using a Netgear.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your landline number? Post the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

Yes, EE does allow the use of 3rd-party routers. However they may only investigate any issues until you put the supplied EE router back. In Using & Configuring a Third Party Router you'll find everything you need to set up your router incl. the BB PPPoE creds. which are now the same as BT's.

The DV landline will not work with your 3rd-party router unless you put the EE router as 1st downstream from the ONT.

Great thanks.

I used the Openreach fibre checker with my postcode and the checker on the EE website and we are ready to go with full fibre at last.

We currently have Trooli and we have around six months left on my contract but EE will pay up to £300 to cover early termination fees, which will more than cover me leaving them as the quality of service has been poor.

I was also just wondering if EE/Openreach would pull a new fibre in and not use the existing Trooli one?

Ok, was looking at getting there 1.6Gbps service but after talking to the agent on the phone, EE dont use Openreach as the carrier for that service, and it appears the service is quite poor as he upgraded to it from 900 when it became available and an alternative network installed the fibre?

Any truth in that?

Fair cheers.

To be honest, price isn't a huge factor. More the quality of service which Trooli seem to be struggling with.

Download speeds are generally good, however, i get pictures not loading (BBC News for eg) occasionally and streaming also is problematic, almost as if we only lose connection to the servers as when i check the router, it doesn't show a WAN disconnection at all.

We can certainly tell more in the evening as there is a noticeable delay in web pages responding, and thats with a 4ms ping!

Friend of ours is on Sky Fibre 900 and it is flawless when browsing or streaming.

I guess as we would have a 14 day cooling off period from connection, it wouldnt hurt to try their 900 and see how that goes as at least the or fibre will be there for another provider to use if we cancel

Is the 1.6Gb/s something that is the appealing factor, if you tried to ask also for EE TV at that time a or possibly a landline DV connection? The rabbit hole is better known upfront! The link below will say what you can get and from which ISP's will do what speed wise, the rest you need to drill down the what's and what nots!

Fibre Checker

Thanks Jim,

No need for any other services as we have Sky and good mobile coverage.

Yes that link is where i stared when it became available to us and i did go through many of them.

I guess it is just a generic list as some of the providers don't operate in our area.

Someone also mentioned iDNet, which i appreciate are more expensive but they do supply a fixed IP, and 18 month contract rather than 24 which is also slightly appealing!

Like you say, with regards to the EE 1.6 service, i guess they might use an alt-net as the carrier if it gets them the customer if the area is fully subscribed for that service?
